This video offers a sneak preview of the Rare Waves Hydronium – an upcoming DIY acid synthesizer.
They describe the Hydronium as ‘a great DIY acid synth kit with MIDI control + CV ins and outs.’ It will be available with both tabletop and Eurorack options.
Details are still to come
Should be called the Drexcyian..Long live Drexya .Sounds great.Looking forward to the desktop version.
As awesome as acid sounds are
How many clones of it do we need to have?
Nice module though 😉
I find it far more interesting that any news in the acid genre never misses out on having people complain about it.
Thanks for your nice comment. Just like to add, this ones not a 303 circuit clone, its a fresh design. Hope it distinguishes itself in the mix 🙂
It sounds really great, and the demo is sweet. Is there anything else you can tell us? Price, availability?
At one moment in the video I thought I heard the width of a pulse wave being swept. Is this right? Is there PWM?
Thanks, its very encouraging to have positive feedback. Yep, the pulse wave can get its PWM from the envelope, with the “skinny” end of the pulse at the attack. Also its summed with external PWM if that is patched.
If all the parts come in on time we should have them available before the end of the year. Price… not too much 🙂
I like how compact it is. It sounds pretty good, and I’m always a sucker for a DIY synth project. MIDI in & cv/gate is also nice.
Wow that sounds really good, great demo
MAM MB33 Retro, I think is one the best clone of acid
sounds fantastic! for the eurorack version, the midi interface is a bit of an overkill, maybe leaving this out to reduce the kit’s cost?
Aww hell yeah! I have a DC2e from Rare Waves that’s one of the best-sounding and most-inspiring things in my studio. Can’t wait to check this out!
