Using The Korg ER-1 Drum Machine As An Effects Processor

In this video, Durosai shares how he uses the Korg ER-1 drum machine as an effects processor.

The Korg ER-1 is a late 90’s drum machine that offers a combination of analog modeling and sampled drum parts. But it also offers two audio in parts, which can be sequenced and processed like the other parts.

Durosai also shows how the ER-1 can also just be over-driven to beef up drum parts.

Got an ER-1? If so, share your thoughts on it in the comments!

  1. This can be done with any unit that has built-in FX, and at least one input and the ability to route it. Works wonders with the Yamaha SU700!

  2. I picked up the ER-1 and EA-1 when they were originally released for exactly this reason, twenty years ago.
Granted the TR-8 is far more flexible than the TR-707 I had back then. Paired those three with my red SH-101
and Yamaha CS6x. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

  3. I’ve done this with my ES-1 before as well. It’s been a while, so watching the video to remember how. As I recall, you have to activate all of the buttons on the sequencer, which is funny watching it cycle through.
