Moog Subsequent 25 Synthesizer Hands-On Demo

At the 2020 NAMM Show, Moog introduced the Subsequent 25, a portable paraphonic analog synthesizer, based on their Sub Phatty sound engine.

The new synth builds on the Sub Phatty analog synth, but implements upgraded sonic modifications and functional improvements. The Subsequent 25 also builds on the Sub Phatty by upgrading to wood side pieces, implementing the paraphonic functionality of Duo Mode and featuring the Subsequent series of user-requested performance adjustments.

We talked with Moog product specialist Lisa Bella Donna, who gave us a quick demo of the Subsequent 25 and its new features, and then melted some faces.

Pricing and Availability

The Moog Sub 25 has a street price of $849 and is available to pre-order now.

    1. The Sub Phatty and the Sub 37 were in the same generation of synths.

The ‘Subsequent’ synths are updated versions with some new features.

So this should both look like a Sub Phatty and also like a smaller Subsequenty 37.

  1. i love these new moogs would love to have a mini keybed on some of these we can get more octaves and in an overall smaller package . or let s make some eurorack versions of these!!!!

  2. Nice play ^_^
touches on BOC around mid-video *_*

I hope Mogue (or someone to copy) release the ‘Multidrive’ as a standalone effect box.
    – A DIY kit even better !

    1. the multidrive just feeds the filter circuit back into itself. It’s an internal patching of an old trick where you’d plug your headphone out into your ext. audio in.

So it wouldn’t be a multidrive pedal, it would be a filter pedal that drives itself. which they totally made (mf-101) and discontinued.

I’ve been commenting that B should put their eurorack moog filter in a pedal since filter pedals are expensive and there’s not a lot of them, but i don’t think it’s high on their priority list.

erica synths makes the pedal you want, but it’s like $500.
