Secret Base Design has debuted an app for iOS that lets you stream audio over WiFi from one iOS device to another, or even to a Mac or PC.

Apollo Sound Injector can sit in the input slot of Audiobus, and catches the streamed audio sent by Apollo Remote Recorder (Audiobus output slot).

Read This Before You Upgrade To iOS 8

ios-8If you’re a user of iOS music apps, you may be excited to upgrade your device to iOS 8, which was released today.

You should generally wait to do OS upgrades, though, until your most important applications have been explicitly updated for new operating systems.

And multiple iOS developers are saying to wait to upgrade, because they’ve got updates for IOS 8 on the way, but the updates haven’t gotten through Apple’s approval process yet.

We’ve got a sampling of developer messages about the update below.

tl:dr version: Wait a week or so to upgrade to iOS 8 or some of your music apps may be hosed.

Apple today made its biggest announcements so far this year, introducing two new larger phones, a new mobile payment system, a release date for its new mobile operating system, a new wearable computer platform and more.

As with previous iPhone announcements, Apple tried to explain why this year’s models are Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger than the previous generation. And the new models are bigger, with tougher screens, faster processors, better camera and more.

iOS 8 Intros New Option For Audio Applications

Wooji Juice, creator of Mitosynth & Grain Science synthesizers and Hokusai audio editor for iOS, has shared the results of some initial experimentation with a new option under iOS 8 – Extensions

Extensions are designed to allow applications to share features, which are made available in other applications. Apple’s examples include sending alerts to notification center, adding new system-level social media sharing, providing access to file repositories and adding custom keyboards.

Wooji Juice is exploring how Extensions can be used for audio. In their example, an Extension is used to add the option to reverse audio Mitosynth.  Continue reading
