Since we’re approaching the holiday season, I figured I’d get in the “giving” frame of mind by rounding up every single loop I’ve ever posted on this site and zip them up into one file for an easy and free download. So here you go, everything from country to zeibekiko, 60 to 300 BPM, WAV to AIFF to REX2, it’s all inside this one zip file.

These are professionally recorded loops and licensed with a Creative Commons License.

Here’s a sample library that kicks ass: 9Soundware’s new Kung Fu: Hits of Fury.

Kung Fu is a sample library, in EXS24 format, inspired by kung fu films of the 70’s.

According to 9Sampleware – scenes from classic films were studied, and their sound effects were recreated with a combination of Foley-like techniques and painstaking synth programming.

The real reason this sound library kicks ass, though, is its 7 sound categories:

face hit

stomach hit

swoosh

sword clang

sword draw

gong, and

crash

I’ve seen orchestral hits in sound libraries before, but not “face hit” and “sword clang”!

Heeeeeyaaaaahhh!

Kung Fu: Hits Of Fury retails for $19.99 and is available at the 9Soundware site. The 17 MB download includes 1 .EXS file and 100 WAV files (24-bit/44.1 kHz).

Description:

Abstraction 04 is an all-you-can-eat buffet of domestic “found sound”, which has been purposefully polished, refined, and formated into rhythmic loop adders designed to spice up your percussive pallet and inject freshness into your grooves. This time around however, it is targeted directly at down tempo breaks, centrally-Intelligent hip-hop, and experimental urban futurism. Furthermore, this massive second helping of glitch rhythms and real-world sampled eccentricism, is for the first time paired together with analog kick and snare loops to synergistically co-create some seriously freaky future funk designed to make 3008 look old-school.

All Abstraction 04 loop content is produced at a native tempo of 106 BPM and is designed to effortlessly stretch from 90BPM to 120BPM and beyond to fit all tempo ranges used in current urban and down-tempo breaks music sub-genres.

Features:

1,040 new cutting edge loop files (over 1GB, 44.1K/24bit): 160 Solo Kick Loops, 160 Solo Snare Loops, 320 Abstraction Percussion Loops, 320 Mix Loops, 80 Extra Bonus Abstraction Perc Loops.

Both Mix and Solo Element loops are provided. Four different loop types are available.

All solo element loops are provided without additional auxiliary Reverb or delay effects. This keeps the loops pristinely clean and sharp, enables easy custom slicing and editing, and allows the producer to apply his own favorite effects.

All percussion samples are made in stereo and make use of extreme spatial processing techniques at the sample level to produce sounds that literally jump out of the speakers.

Abstraction 04: Found Sound Urban Intelligence is available in Apple Loops, Acid Loops, REX Loops, and Single Hit Samples versions, starting at $39.95 USD for a single format, with additional formats available for $14.95 USD. A free set of samples is available for download from the product page.

Prolific music hacker Brian Green is looking for benders and others interested in collaborative circuit bending projects:

Ive been throwing this idea around for a few days, I really like the idea of social colaberations so i decided i would like to start one with circuit benders.

The idea is im going to pick a toy and do something to it, and make 1-5 loops out of it using the mod made then i will then pick someone off the list and send it to them and they will do the same thing, so on and so on

Then after we have been through everyone on the list the unit will come back to me and im going to make a big loop pack using everyones loops made durning the process and some other ones ill make running the unit through different things. The loop pack will then be posted for download.

The reason the unit is coming back to me is so i can make a lot of one shots and just dig for sounds that were left out during the colab so that we can get every little sound out of it for the sample pack.

After the loops are up i would like everyone who had the unit to make a track for a compilation.

Sounds like it could be an interesting project. Contact Green via his site, if you are interested in participating.

Check out Green’s YouTube channel, too, for examples of his creative circuit bending and audio hacking.

De La Mancha has introduced Slix, a randomising loop slicer for Windows (VST), which switches between up to 4 loops and can shuffle, repeat, reverse and gate the slices of each loop according to user defined probability.

Load any 4 loops, sync them to tempo, slice them up and then set probabilities that each loop will play and for each randomising effect per loop. Even the randomness is randomised, with a parameter that varies the probability in a user defined range. slix was co-developed with sink, who also provided the included 295 original loops.

Features:

Load any 16, 24 or 32 bit, mono or stereo wav file into the 4 loop slots

445 MB of original drum loop content (295 loops) by sink covering many electronic genres (breakbeat, dubstep, drum & bass, electro, 8 bit, lofi, vintage, IDM, FSU and glitch)

Tempo-sync each loop by setting length in beats, allowing stretching or different lengths if desired

Choose any number of slices per loop

Slix plays when triggered by any midi note, with volume envelope per loop for fades

4 effects with independent parameters per loop

Reorder – plays slices out of sequence for variation per loop

Repeat – stutter effect by repeating slices

Reverse – play the slice backwards

Gate – add silent gaps into the loop

Variation range to randomise probabilities

Normalise and mono options per loop

Stereo-out and Multi-out versions (slix and slix 4×4)

Single loop version (slix one) for simpler applications or lower CPU

57 presets covering a range of sounds and styles

Slix retails for $39. A loop free version is also available for download.

Description:

This is a library of 1,000 analogue drum, percussion and one-shot hits. However these are not taken from vintage drum machines (of which there is already plenty of content available elsewhere) but rather all the sounds are hand crafted by Boddy on vintage analogue synths and modular systems.

They run the full gamut from thunderous bass drums, crisp snares & hats through to abstract synth hits & FX and even weird glitchy & industrial sounds. The sounds are a mixture of mono and stereo samples and some have genuine analogue effects printed on them from spring reverbs, bucket brigade delays and phaser/flangers. This all adds up to a cornucopia of drum and percussion sounds that can be used in virtually any style of production.

The sounds are also mapped out in Kontakt 2 programs with a basic envelope and low-pass filter provided. The modulation wheel is set to turn the cut-off of the filter down as it is raised. These programs are presented in three different ways. The Audition programs present all the sounds per category with one sound per key starting at C1. The 18 Kit patches follow as closely as possible the General MIDI Percussion Key Map from B0 (Key35) to B2 (Key59) and provide a convenient way
of playing some of the sounds as “drum kits”. Finally there is a range of sounds key-mapped out in Patches. No other programming is included as the sounds themselves are “finished” and it is intended to give the customer the flexibility of adding their own effects and modulations if desired.

You can preview Drumalogue below:

HG Sounds has introduced Black Magic Loop Generator VSTi for Windows, a “loop workstation with the ability to generate diverse loops with a single mouse click”.

It’s scheduled for release on the 24th of April for £130. You can download a set of demo loops here (.rar).

Black Magic Loop Generator looks like it could be a cool new VSTi, but we could do without the awesomely droolworthy fake 3D rendering.

Demo video and details below. Check it out and leave a comment with your thoughts!

Click here to view the embedded video.

Description:

Black Magic Loop Generator creates loops that can instantly be recorded out to WAV, automatically named by BPM and timestamp. The idea developed to make sample based loops an easy and fun process, as loop creation is generally a time consuming process.

Black Magic can also be used as a standard midi drum machine and also has the ability to jam with the individual sequences in real time. It has 10 Samplers each with its own sequencer and many adjustable parameters. It uses standard WAV files and ships with a large library of samples, but users can easily add their own.

There is also an FX section which includes a Compressor/Limiter, Delay, SoundScaper, Flanger/Filter and Drive as well as many Modulation options including randomizers, a Modulation sequencer and an LFO.

DrumCore 3 sports a new “Sunburst Finish” user interface, over twice as much content and is now a plug-in.

DrumCore gives songwriters and composers access to grooves and instrument sounds of over a dozen famous drummers and percussionists. It includes a library of both audio loops and MIDI grooves plus a software drum instrument for Mac and PC.

DrumCore covers a multitude of styles – including rock, blues, country, metal, prog, alt-rock, pop, jazz, urban, funk, Latin, reggae and others.

In addition to turning DrumCore into a plugin, Submersible Music is including a tool that lets you import your own loops, making this a really transformative upgrade.

If you’ve used DrumCore 3, leave a comment with your thoughts!

Details below.

Changes in DrumCore 3

New “Sunburst Finish” Interface — DrumCore v3 features a new “sunburst” user interface with a number of enhancements. Now it’s even easier to search and audition the vast number of grooves in DrumCore using List View in the updated Groove Browser. Creating more authentic drum parts is easier as content is arranged into song-like GrooveSets, that group related loops, fills and variations together. New v3 content features a larger number of intros and endings in addition to the usual verse/chorus variations. It supports searching via metadata that includes drummer, musical style and “Feel” including shuffle, swing, 1/8th, 1/16th, etc. Drag and drop export of audio and MIDI to a track is supported with all popular music/recording applications (including Acid, Cubase, DP, GarageBand, Live, Logic, Pro Tools, Reaper, Sonar, Traction, etc.).

Vastly Expanded “Basic Beats”, Urban and Jazz Sections — A huge selection of bread-and-butter songwriting beats have been added plus expanded jazz content featuring Seattle jazz drummer Gregg Keplinger (http://www.greggkeplinger.com). Submersible’s popular “Urban GT” expansion pack ($49 value) is now included, which features classic hip-hop and modern R&B MIDI grooves plus 24 subwoofer-slammin’ drumkits.

Matt Cameron (Soundgarden), John Tempesta (Testament) and Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction) Content — Included with v3 are drumkits and grooves from Seattle rock/alternative legend Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), all of the TempestaPack II expansion pack ($79 value) featuring smoldering metal drummer John Tempesta (Rob Zombie, Testament, Helmet) and new grooves by Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins.

“LiveDrummer” Technology — The LiveDrummer DrumCore 3 MIDI engine enhancements provide greater realism for drum rolls and cymbal performances. Tired of “machine gun” playback? Grab the LiveDrummer slider and get more dynamics into your groove!
RTAS/AU/VSTi Compatible — DrumCore v3 is now a plug-in for easier integration with all the popular recording applications.

DrumCore Toolkit — DrumCore Toolkit is a standalone application that can be used for importing your audio and MIDI loop libraries as well as for building drumkits using WAV or AIFF files. It is also great jamming with the grooves in DrumCore or for using live with a controller.

Drummers — DrumCore includes content by these great drummers: Ben Smith (Heart), John Bishop (Ernie Watts), Terry Bozzio (Jeff Beck, Zappa). Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver), Tony Braunagel (Bonnie Raitt), Ned Douglas (Dave Stewart,), Sly Dunbar (Bob Marley), Michael Shrieve (Santana), Alan White (John Lennon, Yes), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), John Tempesta (Rob Zombie), Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Lonnie Wilson (Brooks & Dunn, Rascal Flatts), Luis Conte (Clapton, Sergio Mendes) Zoro (Lenny Kravitz) and others. Even more drummer content is available via “DrummerPack” expansion libraries.

DrumCore 3 is available for $249 USD (The current DrumCore version costs $199 USD, the upgrade to DrumCore 3 is $50 USD).

9 Soundware has released Mixer Feedback, the latest in its series of sample packs featuring DJ Shiftee, the winner of the 2007 DMC World Championships.

Description:

Mixer feedback loops by DJ Shiftee, the winner of the 2007 DMC World Championships. Along with being the titleholder in the prestigious event, he is also the winner of the 2003 DMC NYC (youngest champion ever, at age 17.) as well as a finalist for the DMC USA in both 2003 and 2004. In addition to being the winner of countless other DJ battles, he is also a member of the legendary Lo-Livez crew alongside members of The X-ecutioners and a highly acclaimed DJ that has opened for artists such as The Roots, Talib Kweli, and Aesop Rock, among many others. Literally being among the top DJs in the world, the musicality and virtuosity of his performances are simply jaw-dropping.

These loops showcase DJ Shiftee’s innovative techniques, in which he uses nothing but a mixer to create an astonishing variety of textures. By manipulating a feedback loop with the mixer’s onboard controls, he performs phrases ranging from simple feedback rhythms to blistering walls of noises and bassline-like phrases. The ingenuity behind the unique performance is simply extraordinary and gives new meaning to the phrase “mixer as a musical instrument”. Created in the spirit of experimental music traditions with the artistry of a world class DJ, these unusual samples would surely make for interesting additions to loop libraries in need of something different.

Many of these loops contain extreme waveforms. These continuously full-scale waveforms look like bricks in an audio editor. This means that they are VERY loud. Be very careful when auditioning sounds. 9 Soundware is not liable for damage to your speakers, your hearing, or YOU. Also, due to the nature of the mixer used, many of the loops contain hard-panned audio, where in some cases, audio is present only in one of the channels throughout the entire phrase. Stereo to mono conversion is not recommended, as doing so will produce phasing artifacts.

Mixer Feedback includes 131 loops (1 to 4 bars in length) at tempos 70, 80,90, 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 BPM.

The 212 MB download contains files in WAV format.

131 WAV files (24-bit/44.1 kHz)

212 MB
