Electrikeys

Syntheway has introduced ElectriKeys, a virtual electric piano based on vintage Fender Rhodes MK1, Hohner Clavinet D6, Wurlitzer and Yamaha CP-70 e-pianos. It is available for Windows and Linux based VST/FST hosts – no Mac version is available.

Features

  • Sound is generated via a hybrid method that combines synthesis and sampling techniques, to create the most realistic sounds of these vintage electric pianos.
  • EP Selector. One instrument offering the sound of four legendary e-pianos:
    • Fender Rhodes Electric Piano (Stage Piano Mark I)
    • Hohner Clavinet D6
    • Wurlitzer Electric Piano
    • Yamaha CP-70 Electric Grand Piano (Brilliance: Mellow, Normal and Bright)
  • Tremolo Section: Recreates the classic effect (which was called vibrato on the real Rhodes™ front panel). Contains a LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) with modulation depth, frequency and offset. The panning slider controls the output effect distribution between left and right speaker and to help create a broad spectrum of stereo tremolo effects.
  • 5-Band Parametric Equalizer: EQ composed of five parametric filters with Frequency, Bandwidth and Gain knobs. Equalization allows you to lower or raise the volume of specific frequency ranges for bass and treble manipulation. Also contains global gain wheel to adjust the overall volume (Turn the wheel to right to boost a band, or to left to decrease its level).
  • Decay & Release Time: Decay sets the note decay while the key is pressed. Release sets the release (fade out) time after the key is released, offering unique tone to each player.
  • 32 presets for Tremolo effects and Parametric EQ ready to play. Creating new sounds is as simple as combining these presets in different ways and tweaking any associated parameters from there as desired.
  • Signal’s Harmonic Spectrum (Freq. analyzer)
  • FULL MIDI Automation: Complete MIDI Continuous Controller. Every parameter can be controlled via MIDI or host automation.

MoogMusikmesse: IK Multimedia and Sonic Reality have announced a strategic alliance with Moog Music to bring out sample-based products focused on Moog synthesizer sounds

In an effort to present the flavors of Moog synthesizer history as playable sounds, Sonic Reality has sampled the entire range of vintage Moog synthesizers and together with IK Multimedia, they have created SampleMoog, the first comprehensive collection of Moog samples available as a plug-in powered by SampleTank.

“While there are already some Moog-themed plug-ins out there, we wanted to capture the wider sonic flavors that come from the entire range of Moog synthesizers put out over the years including vintage Polymoogs, Memorymoogs and Taurus Pedals as well as the latest Minimoog Voyager and other synths that have never been modeled,” says Dave Kerzner CEO of Sonic Reality. “We’re honored to be doing this in cooperation with Moog Music Inc. and the Moog Foundation to pay homage to the legendary Bob Moog and present these timeless sounds in software for anyone to use in their music.” Read more…

Jupiter 8v

Musikmesse Update: Arturia has announced that the Jupiter-8V is now shipping.

The Jupiter-8V is a software recreation of Roland’s famous Jupiter-8, coupled with a new generation of features. The result? A wide sound palette, unique and contemporary.

Among those new features are the Galaxy, the step sequencer and the new possibilities with the effects’ architecture.

The Galaxy allows the user to chose from different LFO types and intertwine them together into a single unique modulation source, giving a new evolving element to the sound of the Jupiter-8. The Jupiter’s step sequencer is also an assignable modulation source, which allows for easily generated patterns to be used to control the many interesting parameters of the sound.

Besides this, each voice has now its own suite of creative effects, which can be inserted into the main synthesizer signal path in each voice. Key parameters from each effect can be modulated by chosen sources, adding a new dimension to the subtractive synthesis sound of the original Jupiter-8. It is possible to activate some effects within the synthesis line: Chorus/Flanger, Distortion, Param Eq, Phaser, Ring modulator. The user can also add some effects on the output of the synthesizer: Chorus/Flanger, Delay and Dual Phaser.

The Jupiter-8V comes with an enhanced version of TAE – Arturia’s award winning proprietary technology for analog emulation- optimizing the computer’s processor usage. This means the possibility to play more complex sounds while keeping a good level of polyphony. Read more…

      something to think about

I have discovered three uses for artificial evolution as a tool. One is to bring you to somewhere you would not have thought of – to evolve a pattern, or an organism you couldn’t dream of. The second use is to generate the details that you would not ordinarily have time to even conceive doing – to mutate out a pattern in ways that you just do not have time to do alone. And the third, and most powerful, is to create new spaces to explore. — Brian Eno
