Competition Rules

• Producers must submit a minimum of 10 samples contained within one audio track and submit their entry to this sample competition group.
• Audio tracks must be in wav format.
• Samples can be in any style you wish, one shots, music loops, drum beats or even sound fx .
• Samples can be added to the audio track either in isolation, looped or as a musical track showcasing the samples.
• All genres are welcome from Tech House & Minimal through Drum & Bass and Breaks. If you can produce it we want to hear it!
• Producers may submit as many audio tracks as they wish.
• All samples submitted must be the producers original work and must not violate any common law or statutory right of any third party including, without limitation, contractual rights, copyrights and rights of privacy or publicity.

Here are the details:

Back in July, we highlighted some of the best entries in Moby’s Ooh Yeah video contest. 

Moby’s chosen a winner, and Valerio Sacchetto’s lighthearted take on 70’s adult films came out on top.

Filmmakers are invited to submit their films for the track Ooh Yeah and the winner, chosen by moby, will win the $10,000 prize money and have their video used as the official music video for Ooh Yeah from Moby’s latest album, Last Night.

This one, from Javier Ramirez is called Devil Day.

Ramirez notes that no devils were hurt in the making of this video.

This is another really impressive entry into Moby’s Ooh Yeah video competition.

This one, by Eggman, features some very cool 3d animation, integrated with live footage.

MUSIC:

Propellerheads has announced a Percussa AudioCubes giveaway for Reason users.

To enter the contest, you need to be a Reason 4 owner.

Here’s how to enter:

KeyToSound’s NexSyn has a cool feature, NetNotes, that lets you share, browse, preview and download synth sound presets via the Internet.

Here’s a screen capture of the NexSyn preset browser that shows how this works:

Note the HD and I-Net buttons. Click the HD button, and you can browse your local presets. Click the I-Net button, and you can browse presets shared over the Internet.

NetNotes preset auditioning happens in real-time, so you can audition the presets freom the Internet, play them and listen to them in your mixes, before you acquire them.

It’s a cool feature, but one that’s so new that it’s a little hard to wrap your head around. To help, they’ve announced a contest to encourage people to download NexSyn and check out how browsing sounds off of the Internet works.
The NetNotes Scavenger Hunt Contest

The guys at KeyToSound have hidden a secret message message in three NetNotes synth presets. You can find the messages in the presets’ Notes section. Find the secret messages, and you could win a free copy of NexSyn.

Here’s how it works:

Find the three messages and email what they say to: jason at keytosound.com.
Include a feature or suggestion to improve NetNotes. If you’re one of the first 10 to submit, they’ll send you a copy of Nexsyn. The contest end July 1st, 2007.

To test out NetNotes and look for the secret messages, you can download a demo of NexSyn and check out sounds while you search for the secret messages.

Each concert will feature an 8.1 speaker diffusion system. Any composer regardless of region, age or nationality may submit one work for consideration in the following categories:

1) Two channel works for tape alone
2) Up to Eight channel works for tape alone
3) Instrument(s) and tape or electronics
4) Works for video
5) Sound Installations and Interactive Media (composer must provide all non-standard equipment)
6) Live Laptop works
7) Live Interactive works

In addition, submissions for research and technical papers, panel discussions, and technical demonstrations are also requested. Student submissions are strongly encouraged.

Submission Guidelines:

1) Accepted formats for consideration are CD, DTS CD, DVD, DVD-Audio. Multi-channel works, up to 8 channels, may be submitted as individual mono files (aiff or wav) on data-CD or data-DVD. A diagram must also be included describing the speaker assignment or placement of the sound files in a multi-channel sound system.
2) For consideration, applicants must complete an online submission form available at http://www.emmfestival.org.

Björk has suggested the idea, that the video to Innocence of Volta is to be made by anyone who wants to. She has asked the Madwebcarpenters to help out in finding “you” to make the video. We said: Yes.

Innocence Video Competition

We will for convenience sake call this a competition as it will be Björk who will choose the video and maker to work with.

The timeline is that the video needs to be ready at the beginning of August, when Björk will collaborate with the winner to complete the video. The video needs though to be sent in 3 weeks prior to that so they can be viewed and chosen. The format submitted for viewing will have to be a reasonable sized Quicktime file.

Even though creative tools are provided, it is not an necessity to use them. We just love the sculpture!!!

Thumbprint Press will release1000 Audio CD pressing of 15 artists using their Trogotronic gear. 15 artists will be selected from the submissions received on or before the deadline of February 27th 2007.

Their music using Trogotronic gear will constitute the release. According to Trogotronic, “each artist that appears will get their share of 50 CDs from the pressing which will assure them nothing more than even less respect from their respective dwindling peer groups.”

To submit a recording using Trogotronic gear follow these Three Extremely Difficult steps:

1. Make a CDR with 0-6 minute AIFF Track(s) using Trogotronic Gear with or without effects, live or multi tracked using the Trogotronic gear as an instrument or as an effect or control over other instruments.
2. Take and make a Photo of your Trogotronic box in its un-natural setting.
