In this video, a Cyndustries Photon module is used to control a modular synthesizer with light:

The Photon Interface module comes with a black metal Littlelite brand high-intensity gooseneck lamp, a rheostat dimmer, heavy duty right-angle 4-pin panel connectors, and an independent 12 Volt DC power transformer for system lighting right where you need it.

The lower half of the module features a sensitive photocell with its own dedicated voltage processor which can be used as a performance controller when your hand passes between photocell and lamp.

The voltage processor has an adjustable attenuator and comparator and offers both positive and inverted outputs. Rushing the photocell suddenly with your hand will also generate a Gate Output for triggering different things, and you can switch between an external signal input or an adjustable internal voltage supply simply with the pull of a knob.

via hexenduction:

This is the Photon Interface module by Cynthia. The positive CV output from the Photon is controlling the filter frequency of the Serge Creature and later the tempo of the Cynthia VC Tabla. The lower half of the module features a highly sensitive photocell with its own dedicated voltage processor which makes for a great performance controller when your hand passes between photocell and lamp. The gate out from the VC Tabla is triggering the Pulse Divider on the Serge Gator. These divisions are doing various tone changes in the Creature. 2 of the Malekko Echo Bright 600 pedals are being used for delay.

It was designed primarily as way of creating atmospheric landscapes. It has almost infinite feedback time for many modes, and so is capable of producing rich and complex drones when used with a continuous sound source. It can also be used as a traditional reverb or echo suitable for any application.

SoundScaper has a diverse range of sonic possibilities using 300 datasets of comb/allpass timings, each providing a different effect model. Each of these modes can then be set to 1 of 33 different Multipliers which take it through tight comb based effects, to reverbs and finally echo banks.

The plugin was initially based on Freeverb, though has been expanded and highly optimized using SSE making it a lightweight plugin with a small footprint.

SoundScaper is a free VST plugin, but donations are appreciated.

Features:

300 different Timing Models

Number of Combs switchable between 1 and 8

Number of Allpasses switchable between 0 and 4

33 Styles which multiply the selected Mode Timings by increasing amounts

Size – Sets the feedback level of the Effect

Width – Sets the Stereo Spread of the Effect

Damp – Sets how much the signal is damped

This demo, via BigCityMusic, shows the Analogue Systems rs390 Echo Module and rs200 in action:

The Analogue System rs390 is a very clean (24-bit converters) digital delay in Eurorack format with up to three seconds of delay time. There is a fun little range switch which allows you to cut your delay times on the fly You have CV control over the the delay time and the wet/dry mix. It is a stereo delay, capable of great sounding ping-pong delays but this is a mono video.

We’re also using two rs200 Sequential Controllers to great effect as well as two rs150 Sequential Switches, the rs280 Signal Trigger/Clock Divider and a bit of the rs260 Voltage Quantizer (Quantiser!) for the chord modulation. The rs200 can send end pulse outs to trigger the next row and there are a centerline of switches to turn on or off trigger pulses for each row. Trigger 3 is on all the time.

“Developing RSM pedals has been a multi-year program for us that has resulted in a platform on which we can develop in many directions”, states Duwe. “Our 24-bit hardware, firmware and software system will allow us to model many acoustic spaces, instruments and electronic modifications; at very little cost to the customer. One could easily be misled by the compact pedal form factor, but under the hood of our RSM processors you will find a lot of substantial FX for DJ’s, keyboardists and guitar amp effects loops alike.”

Behringer RSM pedals include chorus, phase shifting, flanging, reverb, delay, echo, octave, dynamic formant eq, acoustic modeling, rotary, harmonizing and synthesis modeling.

All pedals feature:

Real Sound Modeling with advanced DSP algorithms

24-bit A/D/A conversion

Rugged impact-resistant injection molded cases

Sealed rotary controls

Dual outputs for stereo or split-signal applications

Ultra-bright On/Battery LED

Battery or DC powered

US List $74.95

LOUD Technologies Inc., a developer and marketer of professional audio equipment under the Mackie, EAW and TAPCO brands, has announced a cross-licensing agreement with Echo Digital Audio. Under the terms of the agreement, LOUD Technologies will license FireWire audio technology from Echo and Echo will license Mackie-branded application and plug-in products from LOUD.

“This partnership leverages each company’s strengths,” commented Tony Rodrigues, Business Development Manger at LOUD. “Echo is a recognized leader in the development of high-quality audio devices for computer-based audio workstations. Combining their expertise with Mackie’s exceptional analog and digital audio technologies will result in a new generation of high-performance audio I/O products that will bring a host of innovative features and capabilities to the desktop and professional recording markets.”

As part of this agreement, Echo will begin bundling Mackie-branded software products with their PCI and FireWire devices. This bundle will include Mackie Tracktion, the easy-to-use digital recording and MIDI production software; as well as Final Mix, the stereo mastering plug-in originally developed for the award-winning Digital 8-bus console.

Milo Street, CTO of Echo Audio added, “We are very proud to be associated with LOUD, and specifically the Mackie brand. Adding Mackie software products will bring both professional capabilities and tremendous ease-of-use to Echo’s digital product line. We believe that this is just the beginning of a great relationship that will ultimately benefit both Mackie and Echo customers alike.”

Guyatone has introduced the Guyatone TD-X Tube Echo. Not only does this unit mark a first for Guyatone as they move in a new direction of hybrid digital/analog effect units, it also deserves landmark status as the first Guyatone unit that was conceived and designed in conjunction with Godlyke, Inc.

The TD-X takes the company’s popular MD-3 Micro Delay circuit and combines it with a custom-designed filter array that allows the TD-X to emulate a vast variety of vintage and modern delay sounds including BBD, tape, and digital. The key to the TD-X’s versatility are its two Simulator controls. While most digital units emulate analog tones by using a simple high-frequency roll off, the TD-X features a unique frequency boost/cut filtering system combined with tube warmth and saturation for a unique, organic delay tone that is much more realistic than digital modeling.

The Guyatone TD-X features the following:

Real 12AX7A vacuum tube in circuit.

1/16” thick, bent-steel chassis with baked enamel finish and air vent for tube.

2600 milliseconds of delay time.

Delay Level, Delay Time, and Feedback controls with switchable Short, Medium and Long delay ranges.

Capable of self-oscillation at high feedback settings.

Analog Simulation control adds tube saturation on the Delay Repeats and is blendable against unfiltered Delay sound.

Tape Simulation knob adds a preset EQ curve (ultra-low cut, high cut, mid boost and low boost) that is blendable against unfiltered Delay sound.

Dual Outputs (Wet and Dry).

True Bypass Switching using a 3PDT mechanical switch to assure transparent operation in bypass.

12-Volt DC operation (Guyatone AC-12 Adaptor included).

3-year limited warranty

List Price $299

More information on the Guyatone TD-X Tube Echo and the complete line of Guyatone products, is available at the Guyatone site, or call toll-free 1-866-246-3595.
