Lovecapacitor shows his secrets for synthesizing a deep kick drum in Ableton Live

Sebastian Tomczak (Little Scale) has put together a fantastic tutorial on how to prep samples and create LSDJ kits.

LSDJ is an app designed to turn a Game Boy/Game Boy Color into a full-fledged music workstation.

To create your own sample kits for LSDJ, you’ll need several apps:

Check out some of our previous LSDJ posts to see what you can do with the app, and Tomczak’s very nice Little Scale blog for more info on making Game Boy music.

Creative Synth

Creative Synth is a labor of love of Darwin Grosse and a small but dedicated group of writer/musicians. It focuses on modular hardware and software, and getting the most out of synthesizers.

There are tutorials on many of the major synth platforms, along with opinion pieces and columns.

There is an excellent Reaktor tutorial, along with an overview of Reaktor 3. There is a column on Ableton Live. Other interesting sections cover synth building with Max and Buzz, and programming Absynth.

      something to think about

One of the aspects of form that I have been very interested in is stasis – the concept of form which is not so directional in time, not so much climactic form, but rather form which allows time, to stand still. — La Monte Young
