Free Drum Samples Like Bruce Lee Breaking Chuck Norris’s Neck!

Tape Death has released a free drum sample library, Jomox XBase-09 Kicks, that that they say is like Bruce Lee breaking Chuck Norriss‘s neck:

The Jomox XBase-09 is an analog drum machine based on Roland’s 909.

The difference is like the Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris fight in Way of the Dragon. They both got kicks, but at the end of the day Bruce Lee broke Chuck Norris’ fucking neck.

The 909 is good, but the Jomox is better.

Our new sample pack consists of 53 samples from Hyphae’s XBase-09, created by Hyphae and Megatroid one hazy night in Hyphae’s studio. A secret weapon for years, we’re now sharing them with you cause we’re just good people.

Free Drum SamplesFree Sample Library: Wave Alchemy has released Tape KPR-77, a collection of over 280 free drum samples (recorded directly to 1/4″ analogue tape) from the Korg KPR-77 drum machine.

The Kits:

  • Tape Clean – Includes 127 KPR-77 drum samples which have been recorded directly to 1/4″ tape via a Studer A80 Mk1 analogue tape machine at a clean / neutral level. This kit includes 5 round robin samples per sound as well as 3 velocity layers per hit.
  • Tape Saturated – Includes 127 KPR-77 drum samples which have been recorded at a hot level (providing obvious tape saturation) to 1/4″ tape via a Studer A80 Mk1 analogue tape machine. This kit includes 5 round robin samples per sound as well as 3 velocity layers per hit.
  • Driven Kit – Includes 27 KPR-77 drum samples which have been recorded and processed through a variety of Wave Alchemy’s outboard studio collection.

Free SFX Samples From Alive Machine

Rick suggested this collection of free SFX audio samples, Alive Machine’s Bio Kit, via our Submit a Story page:

These samples began as field recordings of dried up palm tree leaves that were scraped with a stick. The audio was then heavily processed with granular synthesis to provide the unique sonic character of the kit.

This sample pack is part of the bigger release of the website AliveMachine.com. Alive Machine is a media-space focused on electronic music, sound design, and audio-visualization.

The styles of the drumkits included are now: HouseKit, TechnoKit, SynthKit, AcidKit, JazzKit and more.

The size is 52 MB compressed and 120 MB decompressed.

Free Orchestral Sample LIbrary

The Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra is a free Creative Commons-licensed orchestral sample library in .sfz format.

While not as advanced or ambitious in scope as commercial offerings, Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra contains all the basic building blocks for creating real virtual orchestrations.

Features:

  • Sample library created from free/CC-licensed/public domain instrument samples.
  • Melodic instruments and chromatic percussion are sampled in minor 3rds. Staccato/pizzicato patches have 2x round-robin.
  • All samples have varying amounts of stage ambience, depending on their front-to-back placement, but in addition to that a good hall reverb is a must.
  • Format: sfz (stereo, 16 bit/44kHz samples).
  • Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra is available to download under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 license.

UnitOvOne has released the first in a planned series of free sample packs , UOO Samples Series 001.

UOO Samples Series 001 starts things off with ‘a plethora of full uncut abstract material’ from the workbench of Dustin E. with “DIY Demons1?:

Confounded from circuit bent toys from Camp Grey Skull, this pack includes 8 full length sessions of each toy in 24 bit wav format. We decided to leave these sessions unchopped and in their entirety for you to mangle, distort, disassemble, and contort as desired.

Some toys included in this round are Vtech Discovery Nursery Barn, modded Throbbing Gristle’s Gristelism, Kawasaki Big Bam Boom Machine, Barbie Karaoke (also with Granular Delayed version), a Toy Chainsaw, a Turntable toy turned Gangsta Chain, and a contact mic session attached to a half broken acoustic guitar ran through a granular delay.
