Since we’re approaching the holiday season, I figured I’d get in the “giving” frame of mind by rounding up every single loop I’ve ever posted on this site and zip them up into one file for an easy and free download. So here you go, everything from country to zeibekiko, 60 to 300 BPM, WAV to AIFF to REX2, it’s all inside this one zip file.

These are professionally recorded loops and licensed with a Creative Commons License.

Illuminated Sounds has been doing twisted things with children’s toys, and they’ve got a free sample library to prove it – James’ Circuit Bent Library:

Here is a Collection of samples from a few of my own circuit bent toys. I’ve made a quick couple of videos that will show you the method of how I captured these samples. I edited them in Protools at 16bit 441khz as mono WAV files. Feel free to comment or request any more. Enjoy.

Tom at Waveformless has put together a free sample library of percussion noises created with a Sequential Circuits Pro One.

SampleRadar has released a collection of free trance samples, royalty free:

The samples are split intro instrumental categories: Basslines, Drums, Explosions, Leads, Pads and Trance Piano. The Drums folder features both loops and single hits.

All the samples are supplied as 24-bit WAV files so can be imported directly into your DAW of choice. Because they’re royalty-free, you’re welcome to use them in your music in any way you like – all we ask is that you don’t re-distribute them.

The trance samples are supplied in a zip file, so you’ll need to extract them before you can see them. Enjoy!

Brian Green has put together a free sample pack (Mediafire link) of circuit-bent sounds from a Yamaha PSS-7:

I decided tonight that i would try to do some bending stuff with my pss-7 again since i have only messed with it once and never really did much, after awhile of messing around i found 3 contact points that would basically cause the unit to freak out in a different way every time.

The reason i call it the mystery bend is you never know what your going to get sometimes it will loop, other times it will be a Fx sound and it will fade all on its own other times it just does what ever it wants its a mystery, Hence the name.

After while of messing around with it i decided it would be a good idea to make some loops out of the glitches because i could not recreate the sounds it was making and i just decided to make a little sample pack which can be downloaded below.

Here’s an example:

Today’s loop is dedicated to Richard Starkey aka Ringo Star. Ringo was the drummer in an underground pop band from the 60’s called The Beatles. I highly recommend going to your local vinyl shop and digging for some of their albums.

Why am I dedicating this to Ringo? Because Ringo came up with the ingenious idea of placing towels on top of his drums when recording in the studio. This technique resulted in the signature “Ringo sound” which was prevalent in their later albums; flat, punchy and ultra compressed. It is also my guess that Ringo used these towels to dry himself when playing drums on the beach. Talk about resourceful.

I took Ringo’s towel technique and ran with it on this one. Using close mic’ing on all of the drums, I cranked up the compressor and panned the toms hard left and right. Finally, I pulled out the bit-crusher and smashed things up a bit. The final result: This sounds absolutely nothing like Ringo but more like something Pharrell would produce after spilling Moët all over the console. Yet again, another reason to have towels in the studio.

I like Ryan’s approach. By giving you the story behind his drum loops, he creates an image in your mind that might inspire a new musical tangent.
