This is the music video for Lusine’s Two Dots.

via ghostlyintl:

Britta Johnson (video director for Andrew Bird, among others) brings Lusines new single Two Dots to life, illustrating the songs relationships-as-trigonometry analogy in an intricately animated video.

In the clip, a pair of marbles—one blue, one yellow—engage in the timeless dance of seduction on a horizontal plain, mapping the ups and downs of a courtship through pencil-drawn geometric principles.

Like Two Dots, Johnsons video lives in the middle ground between technology and humanity, emotional immediacy and obsessive detail.

The MLGI is a multi-laser gestural controller built and designed by Meason Wiley at California Institute of the Arts.

The controller uses Dan Overholt’s CUI interface along with an array of photocells and laser modules to send out control data, which can be converted to OSC or MIDI using various programming platforms such as ChucK and Processing.

This video demonstrates the MLGI working with ChucK, which is sending OSC to a custom built live instrument created using Native Instruments Reaktor Software. The controller is still in it’s development stages, but will be featured at the NIME conference at Carnegie Melon in June.

Apocalypse Meow is the second release of sound designer/idm artist Luca Capozzi, features eight tracks of exciting electronic music.

It’s available as a free download from Jamendo, and has the best cover of the year.

Details on the release below.

via zioaxiom:

Here’s a brief description of tracks:

01 – Intro
The analog warmth of a Doepfer and a Moog Voyager travels together the shiny frequencies of a digital Nord Modular G2X introducing you through this electronic journey.

02 – Ka’tun IV
The power of genetic polyrhythmed drums with a taste of acid basslines. The harshness of resonant filters used as solo instrument.

03 – The Prophecy
Dive yourself straight to the action with this soundtrack-style song. Acoustic orchestration and fat basslines are melted together. A rocking keyboard solo to fight the monster.

04 – Midnight Fog
Modeled dissonations, filter sweeps as melodic lines. Not for untrained ears.

05 – ZO-ology
An easy-to-listen electronic song.

06 – Back to A
How to play a radio transmission and enjoy your favorite soccer team.

07 – Ostreococcus OsV5
How a virus DNA will sound? Here it is. Bassline, distant echoed guitars and swinging percussions are all generated by a virus genome. Reaktor is the cure.

08 – Lame Walk
A jazzy walking bass meets a crazy automated breakbeat.

Gear used for Apocalypse Meow: Doepfer A-100, Moog Voyager, Clavia Nord Modular G2X, Metasonix TX-1, Roland TR-606, Native Instruments Reaktor 5, AAS Tassman, Logic Studio Pro, Ableton Live 7.

Monkey Straddle, the debut CD of Nnnj (”inch”) on The Agriculture records, is an interesting downtempo blend of influences ranging from ambient to jazz to IDM to world music.

Nnnj’s music falls into the broad downtempo category – but the tracks on Monkey Straddle are some of the most interesting examples of the genre that we’ve heard. Nnnj gets slow jazzy grooves going and then layers on samples, drones and spoken dialog.

Highlights of the CD include Fiji Geesus, a track that grows from an ambient beginning to a more melodic, world-music feel; the dubby title track; and Demeter’s Pupil, which creates an uneasy balance between a jazzy groove and ambient effects.

Throughout the CD, Nnnj is consistenty original and creative. Listening to it, you’re never quite sure where he’s going to go next. But Nnnj nicely balances his flow of new sounds and effects with song structures, so the CD is as listenable as it is creative.

UK-based IDM/breakbeat artists Dogmixer offers some sample-laced techno on Bong 93, an EP on Replicant Society.

The music is straight-ahead techno/big-beat, with some tasty sci-fi oriented samples from the likes of The Prisoner & Dune. The samples are ear-catching on first listen, but after several listenings one wonders if the songs could work even better without the emphasis on the vocal samples.

The tracks themselves have an driving, aggressive quality that wouldn’t be out of place in a Matrix film, or maybe a video-game soundtrack.

The EP has limited release, but you can check it out at CD Baby. You can also find out more about Dogmixer at his MySpace site.

Yoko Solo, aka Brandon LaSan, claims influences ranging from Public Enemy to “Billy Jean Is Not My Lover She’s Just A Girl Who Claims That I Am The One”, and describes his music as Disco House / Thrash / Shoegaze. I’m not sure that’s an accurate description, but on the other hand, I’m not sure what is.

On The Beeps, Yoko Solo explores experimental loop-based abstronica that sometimes borders on the danceable, but more often goes into IDM territory. Rhythms and grooves here are a tool for catching your ear so that that it can be taken on a new tangent. Beats jump in and out of the picture, while Yoko Solo drops in spoken world samples, noises or ambient effects, creating an aural collage.

The music has a very unfinished, punk feel to it that is frustrating, because it sometimes seems to go nowhere, but it is very fresh, too, because you never know where the music will go next.

Yoko Solo is brave enough to risk not satisfying your expectations, which is always interesting.

<itunes:summary>Yoko Solo, aka Brandon LaSan, claims influences ranging from Public Enemy to "Billy Jean Is Not My Lover She's Just A Girl Who Claims That I Am The One", and describes his music as Disco House / Thrash / Shoegaze. I'm not sure that's an accurate description, but on the other hand, I'm not sure what is.

Tracks:

	Kluge (?!)
	Pigbucket Blam Blam
Don't Fall Asleep I'm Warning You Don't Fall Asleep
Infinite Collapse Pt. One: I Blew It (Infinite Undo)
Infinite Collapse Pt. Two: Sickly Assassin
Infinite Collapse Pt. Three: Bang U Up Dummy
	Krak V.2 "I Rebuke Thee"
	No Party, Wind/Vomit
	These Are The Beeps
	The Alarm (9oslash;oslash;oslash;)
Covered In Feces...Stronger Than You, Rotten
Partial Collapse / Useless Control Systems (I've Got No Rights)
	noWave
	Cosmonaut Tragedy
