The new keyboard provides advanced control of virtual instruments and DAWs via a full-color, high-resolution 4.3-inch screen. As the name indicates, it features a 49-key semi-weighted keybed, and, say company officials, the directional cluster of hardware controls “has been meticulously thought out for effortless operation.”

Alesis Introduces VX49 MIDI Controller Keyboard

Alesis_VX49_AngleAlesis has just introduced their new MIDI controller, the VX49.

Dubbing it “revolutionary,” the keyboard provides advanced control of virtual instruments and DAWs via a full-color, high resolution 4.3-inch screen, a 49-key keybed with aftertouch, and “intuitively placed,” performance-friendly hardware controls.

VX49 is powered by the Virtual Instrument Player (VIP) software (included). The VIP software enables users to access any VSTi virtual instrument in their computer directly from the keyboard. Using the built-in “tagging” function, users can quickly filter and search through every patch in their plugin library. After a plugin is selected, VIP auto-maps the VX49’s controls to the selected plugin, and displays the plugin parameters directly on the VX49’s full-color display for a full 1:1 workstation style experience.

Arturia KeyLab 88 Now Shipping

Music software and hardware company Arturia announced today that their KeyLab 88 MIDI keyboard controller is now shipping. It was first announced at Musikmesse last spring.

KeyLab 88, the largest in the KeyLab series, comes with Arturia’s Analog Lab, a software synthesizer solution with over 6,000 presets derived from Arturia’s range of Analog Classics. These include the TAE (True Analog Emulation) synthesis-powered Mini V (Minimoog monosynth emulation), Wurlitzer V (virtually bringing back to life the well-known ‘Wurly’ electric piano), among others.

The first 3,000 units shipped come with two virtual instruments: Grand Piano Model D from fellow French developer UVI, and Pianoteq 5 Stage, a physical modelling-based virtual instrument that provides acoustic and electric piano recreations as well as chromatic instruments.

Nektar Impact iX 49, iX 61 Controllers Integrate With 11 DAWs

Arturia Unveils KeyLab MIDI Keyboard Controllers at Musikmesse

Arturia-KeyLab-25Today music software and hardware company Arturia revealed its new KeyLab range of professional-grade MIDI keyboard controllers with all-new accompanying Analog Lab synthesizer software at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany.

KeyLab 25 (pictured, right) features 25 keys with velocity sensitivity for performance flexibility. The smallest, most lightweight, and simplest of these three professional-grade MIDI keyboard controllers, the KeyLab 25 is ideally suited to travelling musicians, mobile music producers, and performance-orientated DJs alike.

Complimenting that full-size keyboard is a feature-packed panel with two clickable encoders; 12 encoders; nine sliders; pitch bend and modulation wheels; six backlit transport controls; 15 backlit buttons; octave up/down buttons; and an informative 32-digit LED screen to enrich the performance experience and aid speedy software navigation. This controller is compatible with any third-party software and hardware, and is bundled with MIDI Control Center software. The keyboard controller also has rear panel-mounted MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, Expression Pedal, Sustain Pedal, Aux foot switch, Breath control, and USB connections.

KeyLab 49 and KeyLab 61

The larger KeyLab 49 (pictured, right) and KeyLab 61 MIDI keyboard controllers maximize performance and expression, with 49- and 61-note full-size keyboards which feature both aftertouch and velocity sensitivity. KeyLab 49 and KeyLab 61 feature a more extensive set of physical controls with an additional 16 back-lit pressure-sensitive pads for beat-making or triggering chords.
