Articles about Leapfrog Audio:

Leapfrog Audio has released Rephrase 1.3, which features the improvements listed below.

  • Improved: Another nice sound quality improvement.
  • Added: right click note sensitivity single slice option, for quickly creating one long slice of the whole phrase.
  • Added: ability to move base notes in Rephrase, when detected note pitch was incorrect. (just drag the note bar, when in slice edit mode)
  • Added: shortcuts to the manual, web site and this forum to the installer.
  • Fixed: Midi import into Media Player and Acid Pro wasn’t working.
  • Fixed: potential (very rare..) problems importing sounds at arbitrary sample rates.
  • Fixed: when a midi clip exported from Rephrase is not the first in a track, and the phrase has a note starting exactly from the start, the first note can play using the last slice. (not in all hosts)

All Rephrase owners should receive their copy shortly, and the demo has been updated.

The new demo can be downloaded from the Leapfrog site.

Leapfrog RephraseLeapfrog Audio has updated Rephrase to v1.1.1. The demo has also been updated, and allows a 14-day trial period.

Rephrase is a powerful phrase editing virtual instrument. No longer do you have to think of audio tracks as fixed blocks. Using Rephrase your audio tracks become instruments in their own right. Edit them directly as midi in your host application, or even play them live via midi.

  • Fixed: compatibility with Windows 98/ME.
  • Fixed: compatibility with DirectiXer VST-DX wrapper.
  • Improved: various aspects of the installer/uninstaller.

  • Added: MIDI export synch – using this (default) option, host can now playback from anywhere in phrase.
  • Added: support for fractional tempos.
  • Added: help button – launches the manual.
  • Added: extra zoom level.
  • Fixed: problem exporting midi to SX1.

Leapfrog rephraseLeapfrog Audio has released Rephrase, a powerful audio phrase editing virtual instrument.

Using Rephrase, audio tracks become instruments in their own right. Rephrase imports monophonic audio phrases and automatically splits them into notes for playback via MIDI. Export the MIDI into your host for editing and let Rephrase play it back with all your pitch, timing and phrasing changes.

Rephrase is powered by a high quality Resynthesis engine, allowing free control over pitch, time, volume, formant, partial tuning etc.. Pitch changes in Rephrase use formant preservation, meaning phrases sound authentic up and down the scale. Read more…

Leap Frog has announced Rephrase, a phrase editing virtual instrument that uses audio tracks as source material. Using Rephrase, audio tracks become instruments in their own right. It lets you edit them directly as MIDI in your host application, or play them live via midi.

At the core of Rephrase is a resynthesis engine. The engine is the result of over a year’s research and development. It has been tuned to ensure sampler-like quality is achieved, while allowing free control over pitch, time, volume, formant, partial tuning etc… The engine performs formant preservation, meaning audio files sound realistic, even when pitched up or down by a large amount.

Rephrase imports monophonic audio files and automatically splits them up into notes. Notes can be played back in-order, allowing changes to timing, pitch and volume of each note via MIDI. Read more…
