Yamaha Acquires Line 6

Yamaha Corporation and Line 6 today announced an agreement for Yamaha to acquire Line 6. The acquisition expands Yamaha’s portfolio of modeling guitar processing products as well as pro-audio equipment.

Line 6 has a wide portfolio of electronic music products, including POD multi-effect processors, digital effects, guitar amplifiers, modeling guitars, a range of professional instrument and microphone digital wireless systems, digital live sound mixers, speakers, as well as iOS interfaces. Line 6 Intros POD HD Pro X Multi-Effects Processor and Studio Interface

Line6_POD_HD_PRO_XLine 6 has introduced a replacement to their popular POD HD Pro guitar multi-effects processor and studio interface. The new POD HD Pro X (like the recently released POD HD500X) features more DSP processing power than previous incarnations of the interface, allowing musicians greater flexibility for creating complex signal paths and “unique, intricate” tones.

Line 6 notes that the POD Pro X is designed especially for tone exploration. Dynamic DSP gives guitarists a greater element of freedom to decide which effects to use, and where to place those effects in the signal chain. Musicians can now add even more effects than before, opening up “all-new tonal possibilities.”

Line 6 Introduces POD HD500X Guitar Multi-Effects Processor

Line 6 today introduced the new POD HD500X guitar multi-effects processor, successor to the POD HD500.

With more processing power than its predecessor, POD HD500X enables musicians to create more intricate sounds and signal chains. Professional-grade, backlit foot switches provide total control and are highly visible in any environment.

Line 6 Debuts StageScape M20d Mixing System, Trades Faders & Knobs For Touch Screens

Gear maker Line 6 announced this week that their StageScape M20d, described as “the world’s first smart mixing system for live sound,” is now available.

The StageScape dispenses with the columns of faders and knobs of traditional mixers and replaces them with a touchscreen visual mixing environment. The StageScape M20d allows multi-channel recording and can also be remotely controlled via one or more iPads.

Line 6 Mobile Keys (Demo Video)

This teaser style video demonstrates the new Line 6 Mobile Keys MIDI controllers being used with software synths running on an iPhone or iPad.

Line 6 calls the Mobile Keys controllers the ‘first tri-platform keyboards’, because they work directly with Mac, Windows & iOS software synths via a dock connector or USB jack.

The Mobile Keys keyboards are available in 25 & 49 key models and are available for about $150 & $200, respectively.

Pod HD Multi-Effects Getting Free Firmware Update

2012 NAMM Show: Line 6 announced that their Pod HD multi-effects products are getting a free firmware update.

The update expands the sonic palette of all POD HD multi-effect processors, and enhances integration with the James Tyler Variax and DT25 orDT50 guitar amplifier rig.

For all POD HD multi-effects, the update includes two brand-new HD guitar models, the world’s first HD bass model (with eight mic model choices) and a new vintage-voiced mic preamp model:

The ‘First Tri-Platform Keyboards’ – Line 6 Mobile Keys

2012 NAMM Show: Line 6 has introduced Mobile Keys a new line of ‘tri-platform’ keyboard controllers for iPad, iPhone, Mac and PC.

Mobile Keys 25 and Mobile Keys 49 are a pair of new keyboards designed to control iOS music apps and do double duty as USB MIDI controllers for Mac and Windows computers. Both models have full-size keys and velocity sensitive keyboard action.

Both Mobile Keys models are compatible with any iOS app that supports the CoreMIDI standard for input, including GarageBand and numerous drum machines, synthesizers and virtual instruments.

“With Mobile Keys 25 and 49, not only do you have two extremely portable options for playing and recording on the go with your iPhone and iPad music apps,” says Line 6 co-founder and digital audio innovator Marcus Ryle, “but you can move seamlessly between your iOS music apps and your Mac or PC, as well.”
