Articles about lo fi:

First 300 (zip) is a free collection of chip music, compiled by Little Scale:

Chipmusic is a big part of my life, and I love the fact that there are places like 8bc that encourage open sharing of all things chip. This work is wholly comprised of the first three-hundred tracks available on the web-site 8bitcollective.com.

I hope that you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed creating it.

It’s shared with a Creative Commons license, which means you can copy it, use it in a podcast or share it.

This represents a monumental effort by the musicians involved and by Little Scale in compiling the collection.

We’ve highlighted several free music albums of 8-bit holiday music already this year, but this one gets the prize for best title:

Just in time for Christmas, it’s the full version of 8-Bit Jesus: Classic Christmas Songs in the Style of Classic NES Games.

This full release contains 18 tracks total, including improved variations of a few of the original nine!

Please be sure to check out the amazing cover art for the full release, designed by Jude Buffum.

You can download 8-Bit Jesus here.

Merry Pixmas is a free compilation of lo fi holiday hits.

It’s a free download, and features perennial holiday classics like Coventry Carol and We Wish You A Merry Christmas, and some unexpected entries, like deck the halls with your anus.

Is that cover awesome, or what?
