Sound Magic Releases Neo Loudness – ‘The Ultimate Weapon For The Loudness War’

Sound Magic has introduced Neo Loudness – a comprehensive tool designed to control loudness. Neo Loudness not only includes traditional compressors and limiters, but it also features a new type of Maximizer.

The Sound Magic Neo Loudness algorithm is based on psychological acoustics, the science that shows how human ears are less sensitive to loudness when it reaches certain ranges. Neo Loudness uses this area to compress the audio signal. When using traditional limiters – and under heavy limiting – music can sound very tight and breathless. The main instruments will sound like they are being pushed way forward. With Neo Loudness, the overall result is a more natural sound while the imaging of the instruments is hardly changed.

With heavy limiting and clipping, a traditional limiter can also generate more odd harmonic distortion than even harmonic distortion. Overall, Neo Loudness tends to generate less harmonic distortion altogether and the harmonics that are generated tend to be the even ones, giving a warmer and more natural sound.

NAMM: BBE Debuts Sonic Maximizer Pedal

BBE Maximizer Pedal2005 NAMM Show: BBE has introduced a foot pedal version of its rack-mounting BBE Sonic Maximizer.

Offering the same sonic specifications as the BBE 482i, the new BBE Sonic Stomp also features hard wire bypass, non slip rubber base and an easy to access 9v battery compartment, while an external power supply is included in the package.

LevelGround Releases Vintasion 2.0, Fattenizer 2.0, and CrunchEQ 1.0

Levelground Media, a company providing media content, processing solutions, and digital audio processing plug-ins, has released updates to Vintasion and Fattenizer, and introduced a new plug-in, CrunchEQ. All three are digital audio processing plugins for use in Audio Unit supporting host environments.

Vintasion 2.0, Fattenizer 2.0, and CrunchEQ 1.0 offer recording musicians and engineers of all skill levels the ability to enhance individual audio tracks and project mixes by adding user tunable vintage style ?coloration? with Vintasion, ?fattening? ability with Fattenizer, and configurable equalization including “crunch” with CrunchEQ via specialized algorithmic configurations.

Special features of the three plug-ins include 64-bit internal processing, a Multi-Processing Core containing multiple distinct processing engines, each with configurable settings and distinct processing algorithms, and chained or parallel processing routing options available to provide an unlimited set of processing effects.

Beyond expanding the potential install base to users all Audio Unit supporting host environments, the updates have been completely rewritten to also contain features requested by existing users, including exposure to more internal parameters, workflow/user interface improvements, and easy installation.
