Here’s another sneak preview, via Ken MacBeth, of the upcoming Micromac-r synthesizer.

“This is the first test that I have done of the micromac-r synthesizer since this test example came back from the assembly plant,” says MacBeth. “All is good! It’s working perfectly! One hell of a lot of sound come from a very micro sized unit!”

The MacBeth Touch Keyboard (Sneak Preview)

YouTube Preview Image

In this video, Ken MacBeth Of MacBeth Studio Systems demonstrates a prototype of a new touch keyboard.

Here’s what he has to say about the touch keyboard:

This is a demo of the touch keyboard that I’m working on. Gone is the physical stylus- now a finger with a small piece of foil is acting as the actuator! It’s fun and it works.

The touch keyboard is playing the MacBeth Micromac desktop unit via it’s CV inputs. I’m using a fair bit of sample and hold- LFO1 S&H is sampling the LFO2 Triangle wave- is sounds a little bit like sequences or arpeggios.

I’m also using the CV from the touch keyboard to control the speed of LFO1- at the very bottom of the keyboard- it’s 0 Volts- at the top it’s about 3 and half volts- so the LFO speeds up and slows down accordingly.

Check it out and let us know what you think of it!

MacBeth Photon + MicroMac Synthesizers (Sneak Preview Prog-a-thon)

YouTube Preview Image

Ken MacBeth, of MacBeth Studio Systems, gets his chilltronic prog jam on in this sneak preview of a couple of new synths he’s working on – the MacBeth Photon and MacBeth MicroMac synthesizers.

Here’s what he has to say about the analog duo:

This is another video of the micromac (prototype) in action with the even more compact 21HP 3U X-Series Photon synthesizer module (prototype). Both the micromac and Photon are complete analogue synths!

I’m using my all analogue CV and Gate keyboard to drive the Micromac and a Korg Prophecy/Kenton Pro Solo to drive the Photon. The Photon is the arpeggiated synth going on here.

gain it’s fun to do this stuff, and my playing is not the best- but this video does give you a good idea of the power and the sound of these seriously small in size synths doing their job!

The MicroMac and Photon synths are prototypes. Release date and pricing are to be determined.

2012 Winter NAMM Show Wrap Up

The 2012 NAMM Show is over – and we’re depressed and relieved.

The Winter NAMM Show is one of the most exciting events of the year, at least in terms of new gear, for musicians.

But, for anyone that hopes to cover the event, it also represents 5 days of relentless work…. and it comes with the reality that you can’t hope to cover it all.

We’ve covered many of the show highlights, over the last few days, including:

That’s right: there were five new synth introductions – in the second half of the show, alone!
