9 Soundware has released Mixer Feedback, the latest in its series of sample packs featuring DJ Shiftee, the winner of the 2007 DMC World Championships.

Description:

Mixer feedback loops by DJ Shiftee, the winner of the 2007 DMC World Championships. Along with being the titleholder in the prestigious event, he is also the winner of the 2003 DMC NYC (youngest champion ever, at age 17.) as well as a finalist for the DMC USA in both 2003 and 2004. In addition to being the winner of countless other DJ battles, he is also a member of the legendary Lo-Livez crew alongside members of The X-ecutioners and a highly acclaimed DJ that has opened for artists such as The Roots, Talib Kweli, and Aesop Rock, among many others. Literally being among the top DJs in the world, the musicality and virtuosity of his performances are simply jaw-dropping.

These loops showcase DJ Shiftee’s innovative techniques, in which he uses nothing but a mixer to create an astonishing variety of textures. By manipulating a feedback loop with the mixer’s onboard controls, he performs phrases ranging from simple feedback rhythms to blistering walls of noises and bassline-like phrases. The ingenuity behind the unique performance is simply extraordinary and gives new meaning to the phrase “mixer as a musical instrument”. Created in the spirit of experimental music traditions with the artistry of a world class DJ, these unusual samples would surely make for interesting additions to loop libraries in need of something different.

Many of these loops contain extreme waveforms. These continuously full-scale waveforms look like bricks in an audio editor. This means that they are VERY loud. Be very careful when auditioning sounds. 9 Soundware is not liable for damage to your speakers, your hearing, or YOU. Also, due to the nature of the mixer used, many of the loops contain hard-panned audio, where in some cases, audio is present only in one of the channels throughout the entire phrase. Stereo to mono conversion is not recommended, as doing so will produce phasing artifacts.

Mixer Feedback includes 131 loops (1 to 4 bars in length) at tempos 70, 80,90, 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 BPM.

The 212 MB download contains files in WAV format.

131 WAV files (24-bit/44.1 kHz)

212 MB

Mackie has launched a new type of mixer designed for musicians, DJs and producers – the U.Series Production Mixer.

“The keyboardist, DJ and producer of today are forced to use over-complicated mixers designed for their dad’s era, or compromise with low-quality features and severely limited connectivity options,” said John Boudreau, Mackie brand group vice president. “U.Series mixers bridge that gap — making them ideal for vinyl, modular analog synths and anything in between. These are the simplest, most intuitive mixers on the market today.”

Here are the details:

Each model features a micro-master section with otherwise full-size qualities such as a prominent master volume knob and high resolution metering. Mic or stereo line channel strips with 3-band active EQ, a built-in DI box and RIAA phono preamps allow you to plug-in, and turn up for live sound and recording via integrated stereo Firewire I/O.

“Loop-thru” routing enables you to mix and record analog and DAW playback with a couple of simple moves. Each offers a stereo aux send, headphone out with pre-main level control and self-monoing outputs.

The U.420 4-channel stereo line mixer offers 3-band “full-kill” active EQ on each channel, a built-in DI box and a Mackie designed RIAA phono preamp.

The U.420d offers 2 Mackie mic channels with 30mm faders, and features 3-band active EQ with mid-sweep, while 2 high-headroom stereo line input channels include 2 Mackie designed RIAA phono preamps, 3-band active EQ, a full headphone cue system and a 30mm crossfader.

The U.Series mixers will be available in the U.S. and Canada in April 2008 and internationally in May 2008. The U.420 will be €249 and have a U.S. MSRP of $249.99 . The U.420d will be €299 and have a U.S. MSRP of $319.99.

Multiple BCF2000’s can be cascaded for larger mixes. The unit can be configured to control virtual instruments and organ drawbars (inverse mode). All faders, encoders and assignable buttons are configured manually or by the user-friendly Learn Mode.

Edirol has introduced the M-10DX 10-channel digital mixer, which features a 24-bit/96kHz processing engine and a backlit LCD so you can see the effects in operation as well a graphical spectrum analysis. The new mixer offers built-in pro-quality FX, including insert effects, reverb/echo and finalize effects, flexible analog and digital I/O, Room Acoustic Control for instant automatic room compensation.

Based on the same high-resolution processing engine as the flagship M-16DX, the M-10DX provides full 24-bit/96kHz processing for the ultimate in transparent, noise-free digital mixing. Mixing is made simple, with dedicated channel controls for 3-Band EQ, Pan, Aux, Select and Level. Scene memories allow instant recall of channel and effect parameters.

For maximum portability, the M-10DX condenses almost all of the M-16DX’s functions into a compact tabletop package for easy portability and use anywhere. It even retains the backlit LCD from its big brother, so you can see the effects in operation as well a graphical spectrum analysis.

AC adaptor comes included.

Yamaha Corporation of America introduced a new lineup of small format analog MG Mixers at the Winter NAMM 2007.

These four redesigned models, offer a number of feature additions, including single-knob compression on two inputs, switch-able monitor mix routing, upgraded components and enhanced cosmetics.

“Recently, we added single-knob compression into our popular EMX powered mixers with great results,” said John Schauer, product manager, Live Sound, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. “Adding it to the new MG mixers to provide improved sound quality only made sense.”

Existing MG10/2, MG8/2FX, MG12/4, and MG12/4FX models are being replaced by the MG102C, MG82CX, MG124C, and MG124CX, respectively. Carrying over from the former generation, the two “CX” models continue to offer SPX-quality digital effects and the MG102C and MG82CX remain mic stand mountable.

“The MG line of analog mixers has been successful beyond our most optimistic expectations,” said Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Live Sound, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. “This new generation of models is designed to build on this already strong level of acceptance.”

The MG124CX (MSRP: $379), MG124C (MSRP: $299), MG82CX (MSRP: $219) and MG102C (MSRP: $149) are scheduled to ship in January 2007.

Like its predecessor, eight inputs can be simultaneously recorded into the XLR and 1/4″ inputs. 19 physical faders control the mixdown channels, and each channel has 3-band EQ and access to three built-in effects processors.

The built-in CD-RW drive can record the master mix in addition to backing up the hard drive and importing WAV files. New features include a larger hard drive, new LCD display, new guitar effects and improved CD mastering capabilities.

The 2488mkII adds an 80GB hard drive, double the size of the previous version. Improved guitar overdrive effects have been added, and the “Slow-Speed Audition” feature from TASCAM’s line of CD Trainers is included for learning new music.

A large, bright display makes the unit even easier to use, and new CD mastering features include defining tracks in a live recording and a faster CD burner.

Together, these two components provide a wide assortment of connection and processing features, while leaving your desktop uncluttered.

A full-featured DSP effects processor is built into the M-16DX, with insert effects (Power Compressor, Vocal/Narration Enhancers, and Voice Change), spatial effects (Echo, Space Echo, and multi-format Reverb), and mastering tools (Noise Suppressor, Enhancer, and Multiband Compressor-Limiter). In addition, each channel strip is equipped with Low-Cut Filter, 3-Band EQ, Pan, Aux, Select, Solo/Mute, and Level controls. Scene memories, allow for instant recall of channel and effect parameters.

In a portable mixing first, the M-16DX features a high-contrast, backlit LCD that lets you to see the effects in operation, as well a spectrum analysis of your mix! Also onboard is the intelligent Room Acoustic Control function, which automatically analyzes and compensates for the frequency response of your studio. It’s fast, easy, and effective.

Digital and analog connectivity — it’s all here, and more. Channels 1-4 contain quality mic preamps with phantom power; channels 1 and 2 also offer Hi-Z switches for directly connecting guitar and bass. Channels 11 and 12 provide direct digital input via S/PDIF optical. And most impressively, USB 2.0 port allows the mixer to work as a powerful 18-in/2-out 24-bit/96kHz audio interface for computer recording.

Almost small enough to put in your pocket, the mixer offers a choice of 1/4″ and RCA inputs and outputs.

AC or battery power, take your choice. The M-10MX comes with an AC adaptor, but it can also operate on battery power (four AA batteries). Thanks to its compact body and battery operation, the M-10MX is an excellent tool for podcasting, location video and/or field recording and mixing.

Connect a wide range of audio devices to the M-10MX, including dynamic microphones, musical instruments, consumer audio devices, video equipment, and audio interfaces for computer audio. The M-10MX’s versatile back panel offers 1/4″ and RCA input and output ports, plus a dedicated plug-in powered, stereo electret condenser microphone jack, suitable for use with mics such as the EDIROL CS-15. For outputs, two TRS balanced 1/4″ phone jacks are provided.

The M-10MX is equipped with both coaxial and optical S/PDIF 24-bit/96kHz digital audio outputs, which allows it to supply digital audio directly to your computer and products such as EDIROL MA-series digital speakers or Roland DS-series monitors with S/PDIF digital inputs . The M-10MX can also be connected to audio interfaces such as EDIROL’s UA or FA-series units for recording and mixing entirely in the digital domain.
