Paul van Dyk in Central Park
Superstar DJ Paul van Dyk plans to return to Central Park on August 17th & 18th – a record 5th consecutive year. Last year, over 10,000 fans from around the world descended upon New York to see van Dyk in this surreal environment.
In celebration of the anniversary, innovators Paul van Dyk and organizers Made Event will offer a special limited edition version of his upcoming artist album In Between (out August 14th on Mute Records). Fans who attend the Central Park concerts will have an opportunity to purchase combination special ticket packages, with the CD available for pickup only at Central Park.
From it’s inception in 2003 what began as a one time, late afternoon event has transformed into a 2-day concert extravaganza. Paul van Dyk’s incomparable DJ style ensures that no two concerts are ever the same due in part to his one-of-a-kind rig that has taken the art of DJing to an entirely new level.
Tickets for Paul van Dyk in Central Park are available for $40 dollars per ticket for the Friday, August 17th concert and $45 dollars per ticket for the Saturday, August 18th concert.
Stanton DJ this month kicks off Roc Raida’s 2007 Gong Battle series that will take the DJ battle to Miami, Baltimore, New York, and Los Angeles.
Hosted by Stanton and DJ Roc Raida, the Gong Battles offer DJs a chance to compete in an informal atmosphere with an emphasis on fun, entertainment, and true undiscovered skill. The competition is open to anyone.
Raida’s Gong Battle was inspired by the 70’s TV program, The Gong Show, which featured amateur performers placed before a panel of judges, who could gong a bad performer, preventing them from moving onto the next round. Roc Raida and Stanton’s Gong Battle offers aspiring DJs a similar opportunity.
In Gong Battle, spectators can gong a DJ they don’t think he or she deserves to move on to the next round. Eventually one winner will be crowned.
The 2007 Gong Battle series will kick off on Saturday, March 24th on South Beach at the Remix Hotel Miami, part of this year’s Winter Music Conference. Additional Battles will take place in Baltimore on April 5th at Sonar Night Club, in New York on April 12th at S.O.B. Night Club, and in Los Angeles on April 27th at the Scratch Academy. Admission is free for all events.
