This music video, by Jonathan Beamish, is for the earliest recorded version of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, produced as a John Peel Session for the BBC in 1979.

The original band footage is a mixture of a performance video shot by the band for the single release (minus the damaged shots) and live concert excerpts from Plank, Brussels and the Apollo, Manchester. We needed to do some tricky retiming and editing to sync it up with the footage which is from completely different versions of the song.Odd to discover that much of the original performance video done for the single release wasn’t edited properly with much of the shots of the band playing not cut accurately to the audio

This video captures New Order live, back in 1984, doing Blue Monday at BBC Radio 1 studios.

Seeing this, who’d have thought Blue Monday would go on to be such a classic track?

Each will feature a bonus disc that contains a host of material that the group released around the time of each album’s release that never made it on to the full-length proper. 

The release is notable because, while it may not satisfy completists, it brings together many releases that never made it to albums, including the full Blue Monday.

“It is an incredible honour for me to receive this award,” said Kylie. “It makes me feel both humble and proud to be recognized for doing a job that I love so much.”

Speaking after the ceremony to the waiting press Kylie admitted to feeling a little nervous but added “I was very excited and to have my family here was magical… I do feel very proud. I think my job, aside from making music, is about communication and this symbolizes my communication with my audience around the world.”

Of her medal, Kylie said: “I’ll admire it for a while, and then keep it safe in its box!”

“Synthesizers are different from other musical instruments,” explains Moog. “They don’t have fixed tone colors, like a guitar or a drum that we listeners can identify when we hear them. A synthesizer sound can be low or high pitched, or have no pitch at all.”

“It can be sustained or percussive, muted or bright, thin or fat, smooth or raucous, familiar or strange. It can evoke images of a symphony orchestra, a rising sun, a hoard of insects, an earth-moving chine, and much, much more.
