Nord Drum 2 At Messe 2013

Musikmesse 2013: Here’s another look at the new Nord Drum 2 drum synthesizer, via sonicstate.

The Nord Drum 2 is a 6-channel Modeling Percussion Synthesizer.  The Nord Drum 2 sound engine features Resonance modeling, Subtractive and FM-synthesis in addition to a comprehensive Noise section with High-Pass, Low-pass and Band-Pass filters and offers an ‘extreme’ level of control over the dynamic response. Nord Announces Drum 2, Nord Pad At Musikmesse

Nord-Drum-2Nord is announcing several new instruments this week at the Frankfurt Musikmesse (April 10-13th), including the Nord Drum 2 and the Nord Pad.

The Nord Drum 2 is a 6-channel Modeling Percussion Synthesizer.  The Nord Drum 2 sound engine features Resonance modeling, Subtractive and FM-synthesis in addition to a comprehensive Noise section with High-Pass, Low-pass and Band-Pass filters and offers an “extreme” level of control over the dynamic response.

Each of the channels can be roughened up with a sample rate reducing Crush effect or non-linear distortion. The six generic trigger inputs can be used with both electronic drum pads and acoustic trigger mics. Nord Drum 2 can be played with MIDI pads or be controlled from a MIDI sequencer. The MIDI Out lets the Nord Drum 2 double as a Trigger-to-MIDI interface. Continue reading

Nord Drum Virtual Analog Drum Synth (Review)

YouTube Preview Image

In this video review, Nick Batt takes a look a the Nord Drum – a new virtual analog drum synth that was introduced at the 2012 NAMM Show:

“The Nord Drum is certainly a usable little unit, with the range of sounds on board even with the limited number of Tone waves, it will find a home in many a drummers arsenal as a way to enhance an acoustic setup or perhaps as a drum aspect to an electronic music setup. Its a shame that it was not possible to extend the wave palette more and give it a stereo output.”

Nord Drum (In Depth Demo)

Here’s another look at the new Nord Drum virtual drum synthesizer, via the guys at Sonic State:

Tomas from Nord had it sussed I think, a quiet suite atop the massive Marriott Hotel just outside the Convention Centre, no shouting or excessive noise, and a nice view too.

It gave us the chance to take a closer look at the Nord Drum synthesizer which takes much from the legacy of the DDRUM – fast, tight triggering and combines the synthesis of Nords modelling technology to create a drum synthesizer designed to be gigged.

The Nord Drum features four voices, each with three synth elements (click, noise & tone) that are designed especially drum synthesis. The four jacks on the back let you hook up standard drum pads. You can also control the Nord Drum via MIDI.

Pricing and availability for the Nord Drum are to be announced.

Nord Drum

UK distributor Sound Tech has published details on the new Nord Drum Virtual Analog Drum Synthesizer.

The Nord Drum is a 4-channel drum synthesizer that is the result of a creative collaboration between Clavia and drum/music technology enthusiasts Bruniusson & Berg.

According to Nord, the Nord Drum offers an ‘amazingly vast sonic palette and an astounding level of playability’.

The Nord Drum lets you create classic retro-futuristic percussion with analogue waveforms or use the harmonically complex waveforms together with different colors of noise more organic sounds.

The Nord Drum is designed with the performing musician in mind. It offers ‘extreme’ dynamic range and fast triggering. 4 high-sensitivity inputs and MIDI lets you play the Nord Drum with a wide range of Electronic Drum Pads, Acoustic Drum Triggers and MIDI-pads/Sequencers.

According to Sound Technology, Nord Drum will ship in the UK in March 2012 with an estimated selling price of £399 RRP inc VAT.

The Nord Drum will be officially introduced at the 2012 NAMM Show.  We’ll have official details from the show.
