Steinberg has announced the upcoming release of Nuendo 6.5, scheduled for release in the third quarter of this year.
Optimized to the requirements of TV and film post-production professionals and ADR/language dubbing studios, Nuendo 6.5 comes with automated loudness processing and professional bass management. Professional effects plug-in maker SoundToys recently announced the release of SoundToys version 4.2 with 64-bit support for Audio Units and Windows VST formats. The new release covers the full line of real-time native hosted plug-ins.
With this release, SoundToys plug-ins are now compatible with Logic Pro X, Ableton Live 9, Digital Performer 8 on Mac and other 64-bit Audio Unit hosts. SoundToys now supports 64-bit VST hosts such as Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, and Ableton Live 9 on the PC. [Speed for Logic X is still in development.]
Pricing and Availability. The upgrade to SoundToys version 4.2 is available, free of charge, for all registered SoundToys V4 users, all Boutique Series owners (Devil-Loc, Radiator, Little MicroShift, etc) and the installers can be found in your SoundToys account. SoundToys is also offering a limited time “all in” promotion, through August 18, which adds the Boutique Series plug-ins to every new SoundToys Native Effects bundle purchase.
At Musikmesse 2012, Steinberg today announced Nuendo Live, a dedicated live recording software solution based on the Nuendo audio workstation.
Nuendo Live’s sole purpose is live multitrack recording. It features a single-window user interface, without unnecessary options.
Dedicated live tools include a record panel displaying all the essential recording information, such as timecode, recording length and remaining disk space, a 60-second pre-record buffer and auto-save. Tracks are created on startup and armed simultaneously while easy marker track management helps to create markers on the fly.

Nuendo 5.5 introduces a variety of advanced multitrack editing features designed to make audio editing more efficient.
Highlights include a time-saving take comping system and phase-stable audio quantization across multiple tracks. The new élastique Pro time-stretching and pitch-shifting algorithm, improved automation data editing, enhanced offline processing and extended compatibility with Pro Tools audio files further enhance Nuendo’s excellent performance. Plus, the 5.5 version also adds new creative tools and functions such as the VST Amp Rack plug-in and extended Quick Control functionality.
The optional 5.5 update for the Nuendo Expansion Kit (NEK) features the groundbreaking VST Expression 2 technology and the HALion Sonic SE workstation alongside superior groove production tools such as LoopMash 2 and Groove Agent ONE 1.2.
Since Nuendo 5.5 and NEK 5.5 are built on a refined code base, both updates are available as full download versions. Registered customers can download the update free of charge from the Steinberg website.
