PowerFX Soundation Studio is like Garageband 1.0 – except that it isn’t a Mac app.

Instead, it’s the latest example of browser based music software. In this case, Soundation is a virtual studio that runs your web browser.

Click here to try it out now.

Here’s what PowerFX has to say about Soundation:

Soundation Studio is the web based sequencer that enables you to make music, ringtones and audio clips directly from the internet without downloading any software. This beta version includes over 400 royalty free audio loops, 9 different effects, track automation, basic loop editing, loop audition, master channel control and mix down to desktop.

Soundation won’t be stealing Logic or Sonar’s thunder anytime soon.

But Soundation may be good enough to let people discover the benefits of working with a browser-based virtual studio.

PowerFX has released Sweet Ann, the first of their new line of vocal libraries employing Yamaha’s Vocaloid2 software. Vocaloid software applications let users type in words and melody and have the virtual vocalist ”sing” back the input.

If it all sounds a bit creepy and cool, check out the demos at the PowerFX site or visit Sweet Ann’s Myspace page.

“We are extremely excited about the release of Sweet Ann and developing vocal libraries for Vocaloid,” said PowerFX CEO Bil Bryant. “Vocal synthesis and voice modelling is an evolving technology that is still in its infancy, but the developments and functions of Vocaloid2 make it such an incredibly useful tool for any digital music maker that we had to get involved.”

Description:

Sweet Ann is a pure “popstress.” Her realistic vocals include a warm vibrato and an unmatchable range. While she can sing lead or harmony parts, PowerFX envisions her as essential to the music labs of producers and electronic dance artists who depend on unique vocals for their genre.

“I always looked at Vocaloid like the initial drum machines. I think innovative electronic musicians will really be able to make new and creative music based on the technology Yamaha has been developing,” continued Bryant.

Sweet Ann’s vocals come from a singer who was recorded extensively, enabling PowerFX to create a comprehensive library of her vocal sounds. Vocaloid software users type in words and assign melodies to Sweet Ann. She then emulates the words and notes given to her. Expressive effects, vibrato and dynamics can also be added to her singing. All of this makes for an exciting songwriting and recording process.

Users can compose using Sweet Ann as their demo vocalist, and even create and experiment with new musical styles, from remixes, vocal fx, and DJ scratch vocals, to jazz, pop, funky house music and electronica genres, all with the benefit of Sweet Ann as their virtual vocalist.

PowerFX’s Sweet Ann vocal library package is available for $149 directly from PowerFX and includes a stand alone version, a VSTi plugin with real-time keyboard performance and ReWire connectivity to a host sequencer.

PowerFX, a leading provider and digital distributor
of loops, sound effects and music samples, has announced the release of
a new VST plug-in, SoundShuttle. Now over 40,000 sounds in the PowerFX database can be previewed, auditioned, and downloaded directly from your sequencer.

?€œThe SoundShuttle is the fastest, easiest, most proficient and
ultimately least expensive way to purchase loops, samples and sound
effects?€, stated Bil Bryant, Managing Partner for PowerFX. ?€œThis
takes using and purchasing samples and sound effects to a whole other
level?€ he concluded.

After purchasing and downloading the SoundShuttle, users are
automatically logged in to the entire PowerFX Sound Shuttle library for
instant access to thousands of sounds and samples. The plug-in is most
intelligent and efficient way to search and purchase sounds to date,
with looping preview files, real time synchronization with host,
unzipping sounds on the fly and drag -n-drop downloads to your host
make this an incredibly useful tool. Users can store and save
SoundShuttle purchases right from within the application, where you can
assess and download sounds again and again.

?€œThis makes searching for sounds a very creative and inspirational
process, stated Bil Bryant. By using plugin architecture to assess an
internet database, we believe that the Sound Shuttle will provide a
whole new set of creative possibilities for everyone using sounds?€.

Currently, the SoundShuttle can be used in conjunction with popular
creation software company products, using the VST platform such as,
Cubase VST, Nuendo, Ableton Live, Fruity Loops and more. It is
available for an introductory price of $19.95 with 10 free sound
credits at the PowerFX web site. SoundShuttle is available as a VST PC
plugin, with VST Mac, Audio Units and RTAS versions coming soon.
