Apple Buys Redmatica – Are Better Sampling Tools Coming To Logic & GarageBand?

apple buys redmatica softwareApple has bought Italian audio software company Redmatica, creator of sample management tools, according to reports.

Apple hasn’t released an official announcement on the acquisition and probably won’t.

Redmatica makes several sample management tools, including:

  • Keymap Pro – a sampled instruments editor for EXS24, Kontakt3 and 4, Structure and Reason NNXT formats.
  • AudoSampler – an app that lets you automatically created sampled instruments from MIDI synths.
  • ProManager – a sample library management tool.
  • GBSamplerManager -  a Mac application for managing, creating and editing instruments for the Sampler Instrument in GarageBand for iPad and iPhone.

Apple rarely makes acquisitions, which raises the question: Why are they interested in Redmatica? Will they be bring better sampling tools to Logic Pro and GarageBand? Or will they just kill off Redmatica’s support for competing sampled instrument formats?

Redmatica Sampling Suite

2009 NAMM Show: Redmatica previewed its “next generation” sampling applications, Compendium Pro Bundle 2.

The new set of applications include Keymap Pro 2, AutoSampler 2 and ProManager 3 and offers both evolutionary and revolutionary features, building over the foundation of Keymap 1.5, AutoSampler and ExsManager 2.

“‘Revolutionary Evolution’ was the concept behind the entire development of the Compendium Pro Bundle 2. We didn’t just want to introduce a killer set of new features, but also offer new ways to use already existing technologies. All I can say is that we are tremendously excited about what we are going to release in a few months.” said Andrea Gozzi, Founder and Technical Director of Redmatica.

Redmatica Releases Keymap Editor For EXS24 Sampler

Winter NAMM: Redmatica has released Keymap, its advanced editor for the EXS24 sampler.

Keymap makes it easy to create and edit sampled instruments on your computer, and with its tools and functions you can easily convert your samples in great sounding sampled instruments. Import your EXS24 instruments, loop your samples, use Harmonic Resynthesis to reshape sounds and use a variety of pitch detection mapping tools for getting to the result very quickly, without leaving the Keymap environment.

When you are ready to use your instruments in your music, you can export them as industry-standard Logic/Logic Express EXS24 instrument files and samples. Each sample file created by Keymap always contains full mapping details so that it can be imported in any sampler application.
