While the site of a large modular synth, a Roland TB 303 or a Fairlight CMI III is titillation enough for most synth freaks, the 2010 APC calendar goes a step further.

Here’s what APC’s Simon Iddol has to say about their 2010 calendar:

The calendar itself is a limited edition (500 copies) A3 sized wall calendar featuring legendary synths like Fairlight CMI III, Roland TB 303, PPG Wave, EMS AKS or Roland Jupiter 8.

Our aim is to create a calendar like this in every year and to do something for the music world like the Pirelli calendar for the car world.

If every garage has a hot chick VS cool cars calendar, than every studio needs our calendar.

The model is a world famous Hungarian striptease dancer and model Dorothy Black.

The politically correct side of me thinks that they should have balanced out the gear photos featuring the “world famous Hungarian striptease dancer” with some shots with a hunky naked guy – but photos of naked guys with monster synths would probably kill the vintage synth resale market on eBay forever.

If you remember, Spanish booking agency Class Concept International published an open letter to the industry, claiming that DJ Mari Ferrari, aka “the best topless DJ of Russia”, is a fake, a phony and a scam.

Yes – this is horrible and sexist, but it’s the first political keytar video of the election that we’ve seen: Election Memory Dance Off, from Barely Political.

Shocking news: Spanish booking agency Class Concept International has published an open letter to the industry, claiming that DJ Mari Ferrari, aka “the best topless DJ of Russia”, is a fake, a phony and a scam.

According to Class Concept:

“This supposed female DJ from Russia during her performance at the event was playing from a tiny CD wallet (the same as the one we use in the car normally) an already pre-mixed music set from one or two CDs, and she was faking the movements of a real DJ, when she wasn´t really doing it for real, just acting.”

“All the people involved in the event who were in the DJ box at the time, including DJs, promoters and camera men from Fashion TV, realised that she wasn´t mixing the music and was just making fake movements and touching the mixer to pretend to the crowd that she was really doing it, but in fact she wasn´t and it was purely a fraud.”

“She was just more occupied with dancing and shaking her head in the DJ box and was just too busy with her dancing movements to get involved in any kind of beat-matching or mixing.”

Based on this, Class Concept says that Mari Ferrari and promoters Girldjs.ru are giving DJs “a bad reputation and worst of all, they are making and taking the money from the other serious female/male DJs that are working hard constantly to get it.”

All I have to say is that you can’t call your company “Class Concept” and then complain because the topless DJ that you hired sucked!

Earlier in the year, we highlighted a controversial ad for Deckadance DJ software, and asked for your thoughts on it.

The ad, shown above, is dominated by a large image of a woman’s rear, with second woman swooning in minimal bathing attire under the first woman’s crotch. 

The post, and the ad, inspired a lot of comments:

• Unless the females in the industry unite and complain against this, you can expect more from them since they’ll most likely see a sales increase from all the horny males. – Bluebrat
• I clipped the image from your site and used it as my desktop wallpaper. Maybe I’ll photo-shop out the Deckadance logo. – umourman
• I’m a girl and I was not offended at all by this. Girls who are offended by it are, in my opinion, a bit ridiculous. Advertisements are for selling things. - Kalilamae
• It is true that sex sells, but to throw two half naked women onto an ad rather than show off their product makes me skeptical about the quality of what they’re selling. – Trinisa

The “most offensive gear ad ever” continues to generate contoversy, with mattavene weighing in with this comment: “I am offended by this perverted publicity, the perverted inclination of associating something attractive with Decadance, or, seen from the other way, making the idea of Decadance look beautiful.”

We recently wondered why Minneapolis hates Kraftwerk, after the the Minneapolis Star Tribune panned a concert by the German techno pioneers.

We thought the Roland C-30 Digital Harpsichord was sort of stupidtacular, because it disguises a digital keyboard as a retro-styled harpsichord. The C-30 fills an important niche, though, and harpsichordists are passionate about it. 

“The craftsmen in Roland have obviously made a very thorough job in reproducing the touch and voice of an acoustic harpsichord to the most minute detail,” writes Heikkiantila. “The things, that really beats me with C-30 are the small details, that simply do not exist in any other digital instruments; the little rustling sound produced by the dampers, when You release the keys, the fact that when combining the different stops, You can actually hear the different sets of strings plucked a few nanoseconds apart (as mentioned by Christof in the previous message), and even the thumping resonance of the soundboard, if You hit the keys too strongly. Boy, I love that instrument!!!!”

We thought it was crazy the US is using the FBI to arrest music bloggers. Aren’t there more important things that the FBI should be doing?

Here’s one for the ladies that are still pissed off about that sexist deckadance ad: Moby getting naked in a portable bathtub.

I’m still wondering why they got Moby naked in the thing, though.

And axe-wielding über-babes still beat bald-headed metrosexuals.

Image Line Software, the creators of software such as FL Studio / Fruityloops, has been running this ad to promote its latest release, Deckadance. Deckadance is a new DJ mixing application.

We’re not sure, but this may rank as even more offensive than the ads that amp makers put in guitar magazines. If I were female, it might make me think twice about checking out Deckadance.

On the other hand, I’m not female, and the ad got my attention.

“i respect the prodigy and i respect eminem as talented and relevant musicians, but i spoke up because i found the misogynystic content of their lyrics(among many others) to be deeply offensive. even if they themselves are not misogynysts,” writes Moby. “i found it irresponsible that they, and many others, would release music that glamourized misogyny.”

He also has harsh words for labels that promote misogynistic music. “any employee of a record company or journalist or radio programmer or mtv employee who has promoted and celebrated misogynystic or homophobic music should be ashamed. you have blood on your hands, and you should be deeply, deeply troubled at the culture that you’ve helped to create.”

Moby’s own lyrics, like “People they come together, People they fall apart; No one can stop us now, ‘Cause we are all made of stars.” have received a certain amount of criticism in the past, too. Critic Rob Mitchum recently wrote about Moby’s Hotel: “Moby has filed away his distinguishing characteristics, and all that’s left is an artist too played out to even be one of Eminem’s punchlines.”

Regardless of what one thinks of Moby’s music, politics or opinions, it’s refreshing to see artists speaking directly to their fans, without a publicist filter, via the Internet.
