SSL Drumstrip

Solid State Logic introduced Drumstrip, a drum processing plug-in for Duende, at the Winter NAMM Show, January 18 to 21.

Drumstrip is designed to take drum sounds from ordinary and average to vibrant and exhilarating in a few quick, easy steps. Plug in, switch on and experiment. Drumstrip handles the hard part, putting the right selection of fantastic sounding processing tools in your hands in an instant.

With Drumstrip, DAW users can attain increased presence, clarity and detail in their drum tracks; reduce spill in individual tracks; restore natural brightness; achieve greater perceived loudness; shorten or lengthen the attack and sustain of percussive signals; tighten up booming toms; make kicks and snares stand out in a mix; and parallel compress room mics. Solid State Logic made several introductions as AES.

Solid State Logic released its Console EQ and Filters Plug-in for the Soundscape DSP platform.

SSL Software Product Manager Filip Saelen says; “This was a very logical first step for us. Soundscape customers have been asking for SSL plug-ins ever since the announcement of SSL’s involvement with Soundscape came out and now Soundscape customers can seamlessly incorporate SSL plug-ins into their production workflow.”

Equalizer Section

The Equalizer section is a classic, flexible four band parametric EQ. The plug-in includes two distinct SSL EQ flavours, one based on the SSL G series EQ and another based on the latest version of SSL’s legendary E series EQ. The plug-in includes high and low frequency shelving bands (which can be switched to peaking curves) and two overlapping bands with adjustable Q.

EQ Graph

By default the SSL plug-in presents itself with the classic SSL console look and feel. For people who prefer to use a graphical representation of the EQ, an interactive display can be enabled with the EQ Graph button.

Filter Section

The Filter Section of Plug-in includes a 12dB/Octave low pass filter and an 18dB/Octave high pass filter. The filters can be placed before or after the Equalizer Section.

Compatibility

  • Soundscape Red 16/24/32
  • Soundscape 16/32
  • Mixpander 5/Mixpander 9
  • Mixtreme 192

Availability

A demo version of the plug-in will be available before the End October on the Soundscape website at http://www.soundscape-audio.de

Soundscape plug-ins can be purchased directly from the Soundscape web store at http://www.soundscape-audio.de .

EACM EQ|1

The Soundscape EACMT EQ|1 Plug-In is the first member of a brand-new plug-in family only available for Soundscape DSP based Audio Workstation platforms. Soundscape EACMT plug-ins model the physical circuits of high-end analogue originals to bring their sonic characterisitcs to the Soundscape no-latency DSP platform. The Electro Acoustical Coefficient Modelling (EACMT) engine was created by German developers Algorithmix GmbH, makers of highly acclaimed algorithms for Mastering EQ’s and Restoration Tools. The Soundscape DSP based Audio workstation platform delivers the processing power required to run multiple instances of these complex 48BIT double precision algorithms.

SSL Software Product Manager Filip Saelen says; “Soundscape users now have exclusive access to a completely new approach to modelling analogue audio characteristics that provides impressive emulations of classic analogue hardware.”

Equalizer Section

The Equalizer section is a classic, flexible four band parametric EQ. The plug-in has a distinct tone, based on one of the most acclaimed Console EQ Sections from the 80’s. In this reincarnation however users have the added advantage of numeric setting display.

EQ Graph

By default the Soundscape EACMT EQ|1 Plug-In presents itself with the classic control based console styling and feel. For people who prefer to use a graphical representation of the EQ, an interactive EQ display can be enabled with the EQ Graph button.

Hands on control

The Soundscape EACMT Plug-In Family is operated via four innovative systems called; M-Touch, Rope-Tune, Quick-Fade, Quick-Type that combine mouse, keyboard and scroll wheel to provide improved hands on control.

Compatibility

  • Soundscape Red 16/24/32
  • Soundscape 16/32

Solid State Logic has announced its involvement with the Ardour workstation and is contributing to its development by employing Paul Davis, the founder of Ardour and its key developer.

Paul is working on an agreed set of development objectives and is also co-ordinating the efforts of other Ardour developers. Our aim is to develop associated software & hardware and, in time, produce Ardour based products with special SSL elements that add value.

Solid State Logic Managing Director Antony David says: “Our involvement with Ardour should not be seen as exclusive of other workstation manufacturers but we regard the Ardour platform as important for an industry that doesn’t currently have a truly open project interchange standard or an open platform for plug-in developers. We regard the open architecture and platform neutral technology of the Ardour workstation as a natural fit with SSL’s long-term vision to provide scalable and customisable solutions to a rapidly growing customer base.”

Ardour Founder Paul Davis explains: “Other pro audio manufacturers such as Harrison have already contributed to the development of Ardour and more are interested to do so. We hope that our involvement will encourage others to get on board. We have also made it clear to those who have asked that we would not object to a move to establish a separate legal entity (sometimes referred to as the ‘Ardour Foundation’) if that helps convince potential contributors about the security of the code as open source software.”

The Ardour Audio Workstation is a collaborative open-source software development effort. Rather than being a product of a particular company, its development is centered around a growing community of independent software developers.

Solid State Logic has announced the imminent availability of Duende for PC and new generation Intel processor Apple Mac users.

The SSL Duende is a powerful DSP platform that functions within your audio workstation environment, offering SSL audio processing and access to a thriving online mentoring program to enable you to maximise the quality of your music.

Duende is a unique signal processor based on the superior algorithms found in the SSL C series of digital production consoles. Years of custom, in-house DSP development and recent advances in technology have allowed us to finally create a product that delivers the sonic performance of SSL signal processing with maximum workflow integration all at an affordable price.

The SSL Duende gives users a fixed number of processing channels of genuine SSL audio processors. Duende is not emulation or a recreation. Duende delivers SSL processing developed by SSL engineers. Derived from our large format consoles, Duende offers complete integration into the most popular workstation environments with one simple cable connection.

Duende includes an authentic SSL channel strip with filters, E and G series EQ and dynamics processing as well as the legendary SSL Buss Compressor.

Duende is priced at $1,899.00
