Macbeth X-Series Dual Oscillator
This is a demonstration of the new Macbeth Studio Systems X-Series Dual Oscillator – a high-end modular VCO.

Demonstrating the Macbeth Dual Oscillator:
Pure oscillator sound going through a Analogue Systems VCA (RS-180), a Mackie Mixer and directly into the audio card (M-Audio) of the computer. No FX, no EQing.
First pure waveform listening and watching (sin and saw), than a little bit modulation (used the Sherman FB LFO for that) and at the end switching through the octaves with displaying the tune.
This demo video looks at using the Malekko / Wiard Noisering as a modular synthesizer oscillator. Read more…
From the tail end of Gearwire’s 2009 NAMM coverage comes this show video of Eric Barbour’s new Metasonix KV100 Assblaster.
Regular Synthtopia visitors know that we like to protect our readers’ sensibilities, so we’ll put this as delicately as possible: the Assblaster puts the anal in analog.
The KV-100 contains the basic preamp stage of the discontinued Metasonix TM-7 Scrotum Smasher, driving the waveshaping (pulser) and ring modulation functions of the discontinued TM-1 (minus the ring-modulator carrier oscillator). These two sections drive a VCO which was derived from the discontinued Metasonix TM-3.
As you can see from the video, the Assblaster features graphics that complement its name.
If you’ve had a chance to try out the Assblaster, leave a comment with your thoughts!

Tag Team Patch 020709
Description:
I had a chance to meet some of the guys from Big City Music at the 2009 NAMM Show, and I’m starting to think that they may have the best job in the world.
This video captures them at work doing a bit of tag team modular synth patching:
Here we are with our friend Don just messing around. We’re using a Plan B Dual Timbral Gate (Sounds good!), Cwejman RES-4, Analogue Systems rs290 Delay/Sampler among other random modules. Don’s starting to get some great formant sounds out of the RES-4 and the rs-290 is being clocked with a trigger signal from our sequencer. Thanks Don!
