This user demo, via darshonaut, looks at how to use a reel to reel tape machine as a tape delay with a modular synthesizer:
I wanted to turn my Reel to Reel Tape Machine (Revox A77 MK III) into a Tape Delay, but since I don’t use a traditional mixing desk with Aux In/Out , I had to come up with a patch for my Curetronic modular synthesizer.
FabFilter has introduced a new distortion/saturation plugin for Mac & Windows, Saturn.
To be released on March 8, 2012, FabFilter Saturn is a multi-band distortion and saturation plug-in. According to FabFilter, it delivers ‘subtle, clean and warm tube or tape saturation to the wildest multi-band guitar amp effects’.
In this tutorial, Dan Worrall explains the basics of FabFilter Saturn. He starts with a simple single-band saturation example explaining the available algorithms and most important controls of the plug-in. Finally, he explains some more complex setups, using multiple bands and making use of the extensive modulation section.
Sunday Synth Jam: Coded Sensation is a project, developed by Martin Rille, that explores the idea of turning our bodies into ‘sensible containers’ of information that can be released through body contact.
Futuristic suits, with embedded sensors and audio tape, respond to touch and motion with audio:
Touching, hearing and feeling thus become equally important as seeing; a synthesis of senses become a way of knowing the world. For the moment it is only a possibility; but that is exactly what art should do: envision possibilities and open perspectives, allowing us to became aware of our present and even more of our hypothetic future.
The result is a bit like performance art from The Matrix.

World – the time has come to push the button and pulverise!
Creative destruction is the theme of the new Pulveriser, part of Propellerhead Reason 6. According to the Propellerhead propellerheads, it’s the tool to grab when it’s time to squash, add dirt and generally get filthy with your sound.
This official ‘micro tutorial’ gives you the rundown on what to expect from the new Pulveriser.
Does the world need another Roland TR-808 drum machine sample library?
Not unless it offers something new – which is exactly what Loopmsters promises with Goldbaby’s Super Analog 808, a sample library featuring high quality TR-808 samples by Goldbaby.
Here’s Goldbaby’s explanation:
For a start the 808 is one of my favorite drum machines! Secondly I thought I could offer something a little different. This sample pack has been recorded at a higher sampler rate and has extensive Round Robin treatment to recreate the feel and movement of an analog drum machine. The Tape808 used tape to give it extra Mojo? this time I have used some new high end outboard. Tasty?
Is there anything else that is different?
Yes there certainly is. This pack has tuned chromatic BD and Conga patches. So you can play them on your keyboard!
