TerraTec Producer’s Expandable Controller Keyboard AREA 61 will be available in spring this year.
AREA 61 is an expandable keyboard system for studio and live musicians. It offers freely selectable, integrated sound generators (f.e. KOMPLEXER DSP soundboard) that may also serve as a central control unit for all software sequencers and virtual instruments in computer based music studios.

An evolutionary advance in guitar-to-MIDI-controllers, the device is based on the popular model AXON AX 100 MK II and can be seen as “the little brother”. AXON AX 50 USB means easy operation and new connection options – ideal for all guitarists, bassists and violinists who want to integrate MIDI equipment into their computer-based studios and experience the endless sound and composition possibilities.
The AXON AX 50 USB offers additional options, such as a USB port with four additional virtual MIDI ports, which makes it ideal for state-of-the-art, computer-based studios. With its 32-bit RISC processor, the guitar-to-MIDI controller immediately translates the vibrations from each string that you strike or strum and sends information about the pitch, dynamics and tone duration to the connected MIDI sound generator. The MIDI sound generator brings music to life using any sound a player chooses. Simply plug in and play to transform a guitar, bass or violin into a synthesizer, an electric piano or a saxophone.
NAMM Show Update: TerraTec Producer introduced Wave Xtable VI , a new virtual instrument in the Producer range with more than 128 sounds and drumkits for modern music production.WAVE XTABLE VI offers more than 128 fresh sounds and drumkits for digital music production. Whether pop or concert pianos, smoky organs, booming wind instruments, gentle strings or butter-soft synth pads: all instruments are perfectly balanced and allow the fast and smooth production of modern arrangements, playbacks or song ideas.
The 128 individual sounds of the WAVE XTABLE VI sorted according to the GM assignment, can be played simultaneously via MIDI on 16 channels and are thus suitable for the high-quality playback of GM-, GS- and XG-compatible MIDI-files. Even the patch changes included in many songs, as well as controller commands e.g. for filters, envelopes and even effects (reverb & chorus) are correctly interpreted and reproduced.
As a technical platform, TerraTec Producer has selected the powerful KONTAKT PLAYER 2 from Native Instruments, which provides practically unlimited polyphony, Direct-From-Disk (DFD) streaming technology, as well as compatibility to all common plug-in standards under Windows or Mac OS X. And if you “just want to make music“, you can even start directly without a sequencer, since the WAVE XTABLE VI can also be used in stand-alone mode.
TerraTec Producer has released KOMPLEXER, also known as the synthesizer of emotions. According to the company, KOMPLEXER is a high end synthesizer “Made in Germany. (You know it’s “Made in Germany” when they start the name with a K and put it in all KAPS.)
Eight macro controllers are onboard to afford utmost handling ease. Version 1.01 of the Komplexer is already available at the time of release with a number of improvements. Moreover, users can log on to the KOMPLEXER VST forum, on the TerraTec Producer Website where they are kept up to date with the latest news and can exchange experiences.
Featuring classic synth sound powered by three oscillators, two multimode filters, four ADSDSR envelopes and three LFOs, KOMPLEXER plays in the premier league of VST instruments, according to Terratec. Courtesy of the application’s macro controllers, presets can be modified to suit every taste using just eight parameters. This is a tremendous improvement in handling ease that not only newbies will welcome. Of course, this VST instrument also affords users unrestricted access to all of the sophisticated synthesis engine’s 400 parameters. Features such as the ultra advanced arpeggiator and LFO 3’s synchronizable user-specific waveform serve to create striking soundscapes that adapt automatically to the given song tempo. In the 16×16 modulation matrix almost every parameter of the Komplexer can be accessed.
KOMPLEXER integrates seamlessly into all VST environments, adding even more practical appointments such as full automation capability to its impressive arsenal of features. KOMPLEXER can also be used without a VST-Host (Standalone – Mode).
TerraTec Producer is now shipping PHASE X24 FW, the professional version of PHASE 24 FW.
The interface sports two analog inputs (line, hi-Z or mic in with 48V phantom power), four outputs, digital I/O, MIDI I/O, insert jacks and gain knobs. The package includes Steinberg´s Cubase LE workstation software with 48 audio tracks, WaveLab lite 2.5 and Native Instruments Traktor DJ software.
The two combination jacks on the front panel of the external housing accept 6.3 mm (1/4″) jack plugs for instruments such as electric guitars and basses, as well as XLR connectors for microphones. Equipped with status and clip LEDs, these inputs’ levels are individually adjustable using two dedicated gain knobs. On demand, 48-volt phantom power can assigned separately to each channel.
