Can’t get enough Cox?

British techno guru Carl Cox is bringing his Ultimate Carl Cox tour to the USA and Canada for the whole month of October.

The techno master will visit seven cities in North America, including New York, Boston, and Los Angeles. Cox will also be paying a visit to four cities in Canada, including Calgary.

Here are the details:

Cox will kick off the tour with gigs at Roxy in Boston on October 15th, then off to New York to play Webster Hall on Friday 17th.

Then he’ll have a quick stop in Canada for four shows, then head back to the states to finish out his tour, in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston and Atlanta.

Carl will be touring with some of dance music’s up and coming artists, such as the Tattoo Detectives and Jon Rundell, as well as established greats like Felix da Housecat and Mark Lewis.

Brian Eno will apparently not be touring with Byrne.

This is exciting news. Eno and Byrne’s last collaboration, My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts, was 20 years ahead of its time and any new collaboration is sure to be interesting.

Here’s Byrne’s announcement, via their site for the release:

Brian Eno and I recently finished our first collaboration in about 30 years. For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang. It’s familiar but completely new as well. We’re pretty excited. In August the music will be available via this Web site, free for streaming and it will also be available for purchase as both a download and in physical formats. One of the songs will be available free of charge.

In September I will begin a tour, on which I will be playing music from the new album as well as music from our previous collaborations – 3 Talking Heads albums, Bush of Ghosts, etc. If you’d like to be updated as this story unfolds, please add your email address via the box below (we will not contact you for any reason other than to tell you about this David Byrne and Brian Eno project and the tour and we promise not to give or sell your contact to anyone else or even to the government).

Now, Yaz is on tour for the first time in 25 years and getting good reviews:

Moyet’s deep, husky and sensual voice seems, at least on paper, an unlikely companion to Clarke’s cool electro blizzard. Yet, the two ended up meshing so perfectly on record, combining at times to create a sound best described as techno blues. Moyet, however, was in her early 20s when Yaz made its two albums and there were legitimate concerns that the vocalist, now 47, wouldn’t be able to handle her signature vocal parts as convincingly in 2008.

Although she has lost some of her range, Moyet still managed to impress in Oakland as she soared through “Goodbye ’70s,” “In My Room” and “Walk Away From Love.”

The bald-headed Clarke was robotically business-like, never addressing the crowd and rarely looking up from his expensive gadgets. Moyet showed more life, especially toward the end of the concert as she danced about the front of the stage. The real show, however, was in the crowd, as fans gyrated exuberantly to the two songs that everyone was waiting to hear: “Don’t Go” and “Situation.”

This could be your only chance to see Yaz perform. If you catch the show, let me know your thoughts in the comments.
