crystal skulls
shadow people
flashlight wielding teenagers
string theory
chaos theory
multiverses
dimensional physics
and a talking cat

Note the soundtrack on this – it’s reminiscent of some of Vangelis’ early work, such as Nucleogenesis, from Albedo 0.39.

#4, above, is State of the Art (at least for 1992):

State of the Art is another demonstration of the sound and graphical capabilities of the Amiga, using advanced programming techniques to combine silhouette dancers with hardware generated special effects – one of the very first sources to do so to such an extent. The music is in the hardcore rave style that was very popular at that time, using many high quality synth sounds and modern sounding rhythms; which seems to complement the presentation to a tee.

In case you’ve been locked in a recording studio – Spore is a new video game that simulates the evolution of creatures from single-cell organisms through the space age. Ambient music artist and superproducer Brian Eno played a significant role in the development of the game’s music.

“In the first phone conversations with him, he really got the idea that the music was always changing, that it would be procedural, and he was really excited about it,” said Kent Jolly, audio director for Maxis/Electronic Arts. “Within a week of talking to him, without having set up anything, he sent us a full CD or more of stuff, and some of it was made right then, not just things he found on his computer, which was pretty amazing.”

There is some more traditional music in Spore (Jolly compares the Eno compositions to his 1983 album Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks), but those songs also mutate.

“I’m interested in the idea of games creating original music,” adds Jolly. “It allows you to write interactive music in ways that are very difficult to do when you’re licensing music.”

ONE MAN ZELDA BAND!!!

This is sort of horrible and awesome at the same time.

MattyGtheMusician plays the theme song from The Legend of Zelda on 3 instruments at the same time.

This video was filmed around February/March 2007 and was Matty G the Musician’s first ever One Man Band video.

ElectroKraft.com has announced the resurrection of the 1980’s video game Space Invaders in a cool modular synth box called the Space*Synth.

Using the original synth chip from the 1980’s video arcade game Space Invaders, ElectroKraft has captured the familiar, yet otherworldly sounds of classic video games.

Tony Amendolare from ElectroKraft.com is creating experimental electronic instruments and effects that are influenced by the burgeoning new sounds in the areas of chip music, experimental electronica, noise and circuit bending.

Space Invaders in a Synthesizer Sound Chip:

“I have recently discovered a marvelous synthesizer chip that was developed in the late 70’s and used in the video arcade games of the 1980’s, such as Space Invaders. These are sounds I remember as a kid and they’re the sounds electronic musicians are seeking to incorporate into new music. People are currently using old Atari video game consoles, Commodore 64’s and Game Boy’s to create a new form of music using vintage video game sounds.”

“The sound generator chip I’m using in the Space*Synth is wired so that you can recreate all of the sounds of “Space Invaders” and other video games of the 1980’s such as “Pong”, “Donkey Kong” and “Asteroids”. In addition to these video game sounds you can also easily create a host of other “alien” sounds and effects.”

Instrument Input & VCO Input

You can use the Space*Synth as a stand alone space synthesizer or plug in a guitar, bass, vocals or any other electronic musical instrument and have the Space*Synth process the signal. There is also a VCO input jack where you can plug in another synthesizer or oscillator to create a ring modulation effect.

Miscellaneous

Standard 1/4″ in/out jacks.

Runs on 9 Volt battery or 9 Volt universal adapter power jack.

Encased in an aluminum modular box.

Direct & Immediate purchasing at: http://www.ElectroKraft.com

List: $189.00
