It’s been a long time since Microsoft came out with something cool enough to make people drool, but VPlay could break that dry spell.

VPlay is a multi-touch tabletop application that lets you mix and manipulate multiple video streams in real-time.

According to the Microsoft researchers behind VPlay:

Our aim is to explore how such an interactive surface can support and augment practices around VJing – a form of video performance art that is becoming increasingly popular in nightclubs and other music events. We conclude with observations from a field deployment, which highlight some initial thoughts and reflections on our design rationale.

Vistalizer is a demo of some of the visualization options available in Resolume 3 VJ software.

The music is based on Microsoft Vista system sounds.

Well, that’s pretty basic: this little clip only shows 3 of dozends of FX Resolume has to offer. This program is awesome! Resolume is a VJ tool but you can resample video and audio footage “on the fly”. The new material will be saved on your harddisc for further editing in your NLE – automatically.So I made this little tune – mainly based on Vista system sounds. Then I grabbed some of my old video clips, made with Artmatic and Apple Motion. Mabuse is a VST plugin for OS X that lets you mashup movie files using MIDI within Ableton Live.
