Voxengo Voxformer v2.0 is a multi-functional vocal channel strip plug-in designed to be a comprehensive vocal processing tool.

Description:

Voxformer is a multi-functional vocal channel strip plug-in for professional audio applications. Combining several professional quality processing modules, Voxformer was designed to be a comprehensive solution for all your vocal processing needs – be it spoken or sung vocals.

The coolest feature of Voxformer is its one-knob vocal compressor. Using only a single knob, you can get a tight, open and definitive professional vocal sound with an excellent articulation in no time. You do not have to worry about common ratio and make-up gain controls since they are automatically selected by the advanced compression algorithm while attack and release parameters are stored in a mode preset. Moreover, Voxformer features two compressors of this type, allowing you to apply either a two-band or a two-stage (serial) vocal compression. For two-band compression Voxformer splits the audio signal into two spectral parts, by means of a crossover filter.

Voxformer also features the de-esser with selectable center frequency and threshold. Multi-band noise gate is available, which, in a manner similar to the compressor, was designed to bring ease of tuning while providing excellent sonic results. For those who like a saturated vocal sound, Voxformer implements a special module which applies a smooth saturation. Another useful feature Voxformer has to offer is the presence boosting module, which you can use to add some shine and space to the vocals.

To simplify the control over these processing modules, Voxformer implements residue listening, which allows you to hear what gets removed during de-essing and noise gate operation, and what is being added by the presence module. Beside that, almost all modules offer “mode editor” panels where you can fine-tune specific module’s operation. In most cases this allows you to use Voxformer for processing of a wide range of instruments beside vocals.

As a finishing touch, Voxformer offers you a flexible easy-handling 5-band equalizer (pre/post selectable) with a real-time output stage fast Fourier transform (FFT) spectrum analyzer display. Each equalizer band can be switched to a parametric, low-shelf, high-shelf filtering mode, or a low-pass or high-pass mode of a selected steepness.

If you’ve used Voxengo Voxformer, leave a comment with your thoughts!

Voxengo has released the next version (v1.2) of Overtone GEQ, a high-quality freeware graphic equalizer in PC VST format.

Overtone GEQ is a 7-band harmonic (overtone) graphic equalizer with multi-channel support (supporting up to 8 input/output channels, host setup dependent: if you are using audio host application that conforms to VST specification of version below 2.3, 2 plug-in channels will be available only). Overtone GEQ offers extensive internal channel routing capabilities, and supports mid/side processing.

Beside equalizing, Overtone GEQ applies harmonic enhancement processing. That is why Overtone GEQ is comparably CPU-heavy: it uses 7 harmonic enhancement modules, one for each EQ band. This generates complex harmonic coloration you will probably like a lot.

Overtone GEQ conforms to VST specification version 2.4, and so it is able to interface with audio host applications in full 64-bit floating point resolution (if supported by host application).

Overtone GEQ features:

7-band graphic equalizing

± 12 dB gain range per band

2 graphic equalizer views

Multi-channel processing

Version update 1.3 for Marquis Compressor is now available for download, Voxengo has announced

Marquis Compressor is an universal compressor plug-in module in PC VST format which is both suitable for track and mix compression.

This version introduces a very useful ‘Sound’ mode selector. It is now possible to switch between the default “Phasy” sound mode to a “Linear” sound mode which offers a phase-linear processing. Phase-linear sound mode does not affect phase response of the program material. This mode can be particularly useful for mastering applications where low-frequency phase shift introduced by the “Phasy” mode is not desirable.

For your information, Marquis features a unique signal level detection algorithm, which creates a very open, punchy, compressed sound with an impressive transient response. Beside this, Marquis compressor offers a classic feedback (opto) compression mode switchable to a more common feed-forward compression. Both modes perform differently, but equally well.

Voxengo Marquis Compressor features:

Variable knee design

Harmonically enhanced sound

Three compression behaviors

Feed-forward and feedback (opto) modes

Different coloration types

Release contour controls

Key signal filtering

4-level meters

“A-to-B” comparisons

Factory presets

Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing

All sample rates supported

64-bit internal precision

Marquis Compressor is available for purchase on-line for USD 89.95.

More information is available at the Voxengo site.

Voxengo has announced that a new version update is available for Pristine Space convolution reverb processor in PC VST plug-in format.

This update fixes an issue with ‘zero latency’ processing mode which previously was not working correctly in all situations.

Pristine Space is a 8-channel convolution processor. Each channel is independent of the others, making it possible to use Pristine Space in various surround configurations. It also allows the user to apply a `true stereo’ kind of processing, where each stereo channel uses its own reverb impulse (requiring 4 convolution channels in total). Sound designers and the like may find Pristine Space’s serial convolution processing feature (which allows one to process the sound with several impulses in sequence) useful.

Pristine Space features:

Up to 8 convolution channels

Loading of up to 8 impulse files

Non-destructive impulse editing

Linear-phase impulse equalizer

Several latency options

Comprehensive routing

Serial convolution processing

WAV and AIFF format support

Multi-channel file support

Built-in sample rate converter

True zero-latency processing

Search paths mechanism

Factory presets

“A-to-B” comparisons

Support of all output sample rates

Low quality mode for CPU cycles saving

High convolution precision

SSE/SSE2 and 3DNow! optimizations

With the introduction of a new PC VST plug-in LF-Max, Voxengo continues development of tools designed to perform low-frequency adjustments.

The main function of LF-Max is to add sub low-frequency content to the program material and to the individual mix tracks. Beside this it features distortion module like the one found in Voxengo LF-Punch plug-in. Signal flow is different from LF-Punch, though. LF-Punch processes low-frequency band “in-place” while LF-Max mixes distorted signal result with the original low-frequency signal.

Internally, LF-Max produces three signals: the first one is the original low-frequency signal which is extracted by means of an adjustable crossover filter; the second one is the distorted signal which is generated by applying distortion to the original low-frequency signal; and the third signal is the sub-frequency signal which is synthesized from the original low-frequency signal. These signals can then be mixed together in the desired proportion.

LF-Max also reproduces finite word-length effects on all processing stages of the plug-in (but without any kind of clipping occuring). Theoretically, plug-in should have the flavor of outboard 24-bit DSP processors which is usually subjectively considered by audio engineering professionals as “better sounding”.

Features:

Sub frequency generator

Distortion module

Two distortion modes

Distortion, sub and original signal blending

FX monitoring switch

“A-to-B” comparisons

Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing

All sample rates supported

24-bit DSP chip imitation

LF-Max is available for purchase on-line for the introductory price of USD 49.95. LF-Max can be also purchased as a part of a plug-in bundle together with LF-Punch plug-in for USD 89.95. For more information and downloads visit the Voxengo web site.

Version 1.6 of Voxformer is now available. Voxformer is a multi-functional vocal channel strip plug-in in PC VST format. Combining several professional quality processing modules, Voxformer was designed to be a comprehensive solution for all your vocal processing needs – be it spoken or sung vocals.

This version features several minor issue fixes. It also features an extended frequency selection range for the Presence module: it has been extended down to 100 Hz. This allows to use ‘presence’ technique in the lower frequency range. This–in turn–usually allows to boost overall body of the voice – especially if it sounds weaker than desired. Check out the “More Body To Voice” preset for the demonstration of this approach.

Voxengo has announced an update to r8brain Pro, a professional sample rate converter for Windows which offers an excellent sample rate conversion quality.

The update features several user interaction improvements. The first one is the ‘Pause’ button you may press to suspend processing, to temporarily release CPU resources, without stopping the whole conversion process. Another minor improvement is that progress bar now updates smoothly and displays the actual sample-accurate progress.

A new feature in this release is the ‘Normalize peak dBFS’ option which you may enable to normalize all processed files to a specified peak dBFS value.

r8brain PRO implements sample rate conversion processing in its full: interpolation and decimation steps without exploiting any kind of simplifications; the signal is first resampled to a least common multiple sample rate which makes conversion perfect.

Features:

Reads 8-, 16-, 24-, 32-bit PCM and IEEE files

Reads both WAV and AIFF files

Writes 16-, 24-, 32-bit PCM and IEEE WAV files

Multi-channel file support

Extensible wave format support

EBU BWF extensions support

Linear- and minimum-phase modes

Batch support

Automatic normalization

Supports all standard sample rates

Voxengo has relaunched their web site, offering visitors a lot of new features.

First of all, the Voxengo web site now features a new redesigned look and feel. Beside viewing normal product pages you can now conveniently browse through product group pages where you can quickly find a product suitable for a specific audio processing application.

Secondly, Voxengo web page now offers a special user area where users can store product codes which are used to remind of available product updates. This area also allows to restore product codes if they were lost at some point. To build a better conscisousness among the potential customers existing Voxengo customers can place links to their homepages in the user area. These links are then randomly shown on every page of the Voxengo web site.

Another set of improvements are: preset exchange and user testimonial entry. Preset exchange allows customers to access presets created by other customers and share their own presets and preset banks. User testimonial entry allows any visitor to submit product testimonial directed to all potential Voxengo product users and customers. This allows people to make more conscious decisions about Voxengo products.

Among the planned features are: redesigned forum software, shopping cart support and impulse response catalog with free and commerical impulse responses available for purchase. Shopping cart will make it possible for customers to build custom product bundles and get discount depending on the order volume.

The Voxengo web site URL is http://www.voxengo.com.

Voxengo has announced an update to its reverb impulse creation tool, Impulse Modeler. Impulse Modeler allows you to design your own room impulse responses ranging from small rooms to large echo halls to small “intimate” cabinets to echoing soundscapes. You have the opportunity to design materials and room’s geometry. A range of other options is also available.

This update increases calculation speed by 25% or more, especially on heavy geometry designs. Impulse Modeler now features emitter groups which allow you to create several differently positioned impulses using the same design.

Another useful improvement in this version is the implementation of polar patterns for receptors. These polar patterns partially recreate common microphone polar patterns and can be used for the same purpose during impulse design.

Features:

Easy-to-use vector graphics editor

Grid support for even easier editing
