In this TED talk, Zenph’s John Q. Walker demonstrates how recordings can be analyzed for precise keystrokes and pedal motions, then played back on computer-controlled grand pianos.

Recordings from the likes of Glenn Gould and Art Tatum have been analyzed for precise keystrokes and pedal motions and then recreated with modern production quality.

Controversial but interesting techology – is it really a Glenn Gould performance anymore, or just a way to generate a new recording with a new copyright?
