Roland D-05 Synthesizer Hands-On Demo

At Knobcon 2017, we talked with product specialist Peter Brown about the new Roland D-05 synth module.

The Boutique D-05 Linear Synthesizer is a Boutique version of the classic Roland D-50 from the late 1980s. The D-05 recreates the digital circuitry of the original using what they call Digital Circuit Behavior (DCB), digitally modeling the circuits and using the actual samples of the original.

If you want to judge how closely the new synth matches the original, check out the Roland D-05 vs Roland D-50 comparison video.

Pricing and Availability:

The Roland D-05 is available to pre-order now, with a street price of US $350. See the Roland sitefor more details.

      1. welp and lylerasputin

I asked Peter about this at Knobcon, and he said it was a prototype that Roland designers had come up with. He didn’t know of any plans to put it into production yet.

    1. actually what I would love them to do is a keybed that fits 2 or 3 boutiques , maybe like 2 and full sized keys or slim keys with a master mod and pitch with the proprietary plug and a mixer for the units so that you can play either multiples at once or put a few in to chain for polyphony and have it all housed in 1 unit but swappable.

  1. Will every upcoming boutique promo have it’s separate, dedicated Synthtopia entry now?
This marketing-scheme is getting rather weird in my opinion!

New synths getting covered by a synth news site?

Yeah – must be a conspiracy!
