NAMM 2006 Show NewsVarious - South Beach Sounds-Miami Music Week Vol. 1South Beach Sounds-Miami Music Week Vol. 1 is the name of both a CD and DVD that take you on a trip to one of the top electronic music/dance events in the world, Miami Music Week. The CD and DVD are available together and individually. The CD brings together hot tracks from a variety of dj's and dance electronica artists, giving listeners a taste of what they might hear at Miami Music Week. Highlights of the CD include Daylight Hours by Infusion, which starts out with some very cool electronic minimalism, and then switches to a driving vocal section for the second half. Think Steve Reich meets Tangerine Dream meets BT. Murk contributes a couple of tracks, Shiver and Reach for Me, that sound like the perfect soundtrack for a beach party for thousands. Infusion's Natural is a techno song that sounds a bit like New Order remixed by BT, and Cartel's E.L.O. is an interesting combination drum and bass/reggae combination. The DVD features a documentary on Miami Music Week that takes viewers on a tour of the beaches and parties. It includes short interviews with many of the DJs performing at Music Week, including the likes of Pete Tong, Junkie XL, Paul Van Dyke and Paul Oakenfold, and lots of gorgeous men and women. It's all cut together with footage of dancers and performers at the Ultra Music Festival. The second main video is described as a "30 minute swimsuit extravaganza." The Bikini Destination Models give viewers a tour of South Beach, the shopping district, and a tour of the everglades with alligator expert Manny Puig. There's some great footage of Puig taking the models swimming with alligators. The DVD has a few extras, including a few music videos, and some 5.1 remixes of tracks by Alan Parsons and Josh One. The CD should appeal to anyone wanting a taste of the music at Miami Music Week. The DVD focuses more on the vibe of the event than the music, with very little footage of the artists, so will mainly interest people wanting to get a feel for what the event is like. CD Tracks
