Music On The Mac Announces GarageBand Contest

MusicOnTheMac.com has announced its GarageBand Composition Contest. The contest is open to all GarageBand users, and offers a chance to win $1000 for the best original track.

MusicOnTheMac provides the details in their press release:

"With the launch of Apple's GarageBand, the anytime, anywhere, recording studio, a whole new genre of musician is emerging. We here at MusicOnTheMac.com want your music to be heard, so as an incentive for you to upload your leading edge material; we're having a contest that will pay $1000 to the best original user submitted GarageBand composition between now and July 31st 2004.

To be eligible, you must have created the composition using GarageBand, (you will need to stuff (using Stuffit) your ".band" file and upload it to the site for verification), you also need to export the composition to an MP3 file and upload it to the site so that MusicOnTheMac visitors as well as judges can listen to your creation. A panel of MusicOnTheMac.com editors will determine the winner. Winners will be chosen based on overall use of GarageBand, general appeal of the music, and whatever sounds good at the time.  Any genre of music is eligible. In the future, we may hold contests for specific genres, but right now, we're just anxious to get more people using GarageBand, and sharing their music with the MusicOnTheMac.com community.

The best of the user submissions will also be eligible to be played 24 x 7 on a soon to be launched Internet Radio Station that will only play GarageBand compositions.
