Cheap decent synth for IndieElectro/SynthPop/Shoegaze

Hi gentlemen, I'm looking for an affordable synthesizer. Poly or mono isn't a big deal. I would like to be able to program my own sounds as well. I plan using it for some IndieElectro/SynthPop/Shoegaze licks.

The M-Audio Venom and also the Novation Mininova are both powerful synths that are pretty cheap. Either one is powerful enough to let you program a wide range of sounds.

Have you checked either of them out?

They're both under $500 new, but you're not likely to see many of these pop up used yet, because they're not very old.
