  1. This seems like a pretty questionable update to me. As someone who JUST bought Komplete through NI's firesale I am more than a little miffed. Ok, sure, komplete 5 firesale, obviously k6 is right around the corner. But what are we getting exactly? A new version of Kontakt (sweet), guitar rig, moderatly sweet, absynth.. kinda sweet. Where the hell is Reaktor?? Can we pretty much assume that NI has totally abandoned Reaktor in favor of these bite-sized preset loaded instruments? That sux! Not pleased with NI's treatment of theyre so called flagship. Good thing I just switched to Abes and will be very strongly considering switching to max for live for my bizarro mega synth needs. NI, YOU DONE FELL OFF!

  2. I agree… I remember the late 90s when NI was at the top of the VA pile… the products were innovative and sounded top notch… Not any more. When Maschine came out, I immediately bought it only to find out I payed $650 for a bunch of Battery drum kits and a sampler with a crippled feature-set. As a Komplete 5 owner, this new release is downright insulting. No new products, KORE and the soundpacks still not included, no Maschine, nothing new at all… It was bad enough when they stopped updating Spektral delay and Vokator… There is no Akoustik piano OR Elektrik Piano now too?????? wow.

  3. I’ve owned Absynth since V1 and have upgraded through the years. A while back, I started working on some sound libraries. In choosing a format I’ve decided on Ableton Live Packs. I’m building “Rack” Albeton Sampler built-in FX capabilities because as Torley mentions the workflow is incredible. I’ve always thought that I might also translate this work to Kontakt because of the large users base and haven’t been able to justify the expense.

So, rewind a few months back. I decide to buy Massive. I thought, “wouldn’t it be great if there was a deal where I could also get Komplete so I get Kotakt”. I wouldn’t have minded FM8 either (if it’s good enough for Kraftwerk…) Since there wasn’t a great deal, I dropped the $199 for Massive. Now I’m into NI for over $400 if you consider Absynth plus upgrades throughout the years.

Soon after, the “Insane” Komplete firesale is announce at $399 – ouch!

Now this announcement soon after. If I’d have jumped on at $399 for the Insane deal I’d be in for another $169 upgrade. This would seem reasonable if they were not months apart. This pricing strategy is pretty iffy if your already an NI users and great if your new.

I’ve been exchanging tweets about this with James and he suggested NI needs a “good customer” policy and I aggree. NI’s software is top notch, solid, and loads fast for me. I’ll keep using and upgrading Absynth and Massive for years to come. NI missed an opportunity with me with this pricing strategy. The firesale actually pushed me more towards my Ableton and I’ve become more entenched with Operator instead of FM8, Sampler instead of Kontakt, and will soon be on Max for Live instead of Reaktor – all with a nice consistant, fast, integrated work flow.

  4. I also feel little sad becouse Pro53 is one my favorite commercial synths. But i maybe still this becouse i can get so little money Kontakt 4,and Battery 3 and maybe these synths are usefull (even i dont hear in demos so many tones what i like) but i must test massive demo more (trying make synth bass for example)… but i almost sure buy about only one music software package next year… and maybe current ones with package what i mean is all what i need (and maybe few freeware synths…) i dont yet know…

  5. I might get this soon. But I write a bunch of stuff on piano. So should I be concerned that the Acoustik Piano part of the bundle is no longer there? Do I then have to go out and buy piano software? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I was a big NI fan/customer (Komplete 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 6). When NI dropped Vokator i was very dissappointed (I didn't care about Spectral Delay), but "swallowed it" and moved on. I loved Akoustik piano, B4 and Pro-53. Still cannot "swallow it" … I upgraded for the new choir samples and new features in Kontakt, but NI is slowly losing me as a customer. Dropping Pro53, B4 and Akoustik piano was "too much" for me. IF they bring Pro53 and B4 back in Komplete 7, AND they add the software-only version of Kore, then ok. Otherwise, bye-bye Ni from me!
Upgrade means adding and fixing, NOT removing!
I already bought Arturia ProphetV and enjoy it very much!
    Think, NI, think!
