Propellerhead Reason 5, Or The Future Of Music Production?

the-future-of-music-production-is-here

This graphic may look like a screen capture from a future Propellerhead Reason 5 – but it’s actually from DreamOn Pro – unreleased infographical vaporware that promises to let you “Become a professional musician. In an instant.”

With modules like Make Sound Like, a Creative Difference Engine and, of course, the Excellentaliser, you’ve got all that you need.

Given how people have gone insane over Auto-Tune, can this really that far off?

Update: Don’t miss the news on the real Reason 5!

  1. It's Xmas!! Give the Blogger a break!!

Most likely ppl will complain they don't have those options in 10 years… anything that sounds crazy and stupid in your "now" will be the rule in the future. Basic rule.

  3. Sure it is a joke. But it is not so improbable. Take for example Groove Agent. You can sound like anything you want, beatwise. As for Auto-tune. And some bands tend to use the same equipement over the years that is also possible to copy with guitar rig, etc.

  4. Joke or not, it is becoming more and more realistic anyway. Heck; you're already seeing this now; just take a look at some of the current (fantastic IMO) movies on Synthtopia this moment; lots of older Synth demo's doing lots of cool sounding stuff. But.. A lot of patching and cabling can already be swapped for one software instrument for example. Where one person is patching along, another does a mere drag and drop.

Difference in sound? Maybe. Difference in quality? Perhaps. Difference between "hardware" and "software" ? I don't think so; just what do /you/ think resides in a soundchip?

  6. I love that 'Ketamine' setting for 'Bronski Beatbox' hahaha. And this is not far off from what is out there now even, never mind in the future, though this is an older post. FL Studio has an effect VST called 'Soundgoodizer' where you can choose 4 or 4 different settings to alter your sound in a way that is not shown to you specifically. Also, FL Studio has a new setting in the piano roll called 'Riff Machine'. Riff Machine allows you to run sequences through it, and allow the software to automatically change it into a progression, arpeggio, or chord. You can also humanize the sequence, flip/mirror it around in different ways, add grooves, interpret, restrict and transpose the sequences automatically, adjusting the degree of each ability. Totally cheating, but sometimes it comes up with some nice unique sounding things that you would never think of doing yourself, and allows you to take the best parts and take them elsewhere in the track.

  12. Look no further my friends than ujam. the future is now. No joke.

Ujam is truly Dreamon Pro — it' music making for the masses. It is Autotune times a hundred.
. You just hum, sing, whistle into the microphone and the internets turns your crappy melody into a masterpiece. Courtesy of none other than the most famous film composer Hans Zimmer and one of the hottest producers Pharrell Williams …of the Neptunes. Crazy stuff.
You guys have to check it (although the video doesnt really demonstrate that well.) http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/24/ujam-turns-whist
