  1. If they share the same hardware why doesn't Korg offer some type of software update to turn one into the other. Korg could easily sell a firmware update on an SD card for $100 that turns a KP3 into a KOP (and vice versa). Perhaps even offering a button combo to switch between the two. That way they could squeeze some more $$$ out of current KP3 owners sitting on the fence and offering KOP owners a can't lose deal.

  2. The hardware is probably different. Faster cpu, additional audio engines, we'll probably never know since Korg doesn't talk about these things. But even if it was possible, they'll never do it because they would rather made $399 off us than $99 🙂 Also counts as a hardware sale, whereas upgrades do not, this matters to the bean counters.

  7. The only thing these two products likely share is the external shell and control surface. I can't wait to get my KOPro and hook it to my KP3 for some seriously sick stuff. Throw the theremin and electric kazoo in, and I'm good to go!

  9. I doubt the internal hardware is different . It wouldn't be cost efficient to design a whole new architecture and just stick it in the same case with the same components. It reminds me of when Roland came out with newer products that used the same hardware as the SP-808 (the 808ex and the Edirol A6). Of course they each had all new and different features…or course Roland didn't offer any upgrade path…of course they wanted folks to buy new hardware…and of course someone found out a way to load the newer OS on the old 808. I wouldn't be surprised if you could load the KP3 OS (it's on the Korg site right now) on a KOP and once a KOP OS update comes out, vice versa.

  12. do any of you guys know how to like to two together using both of their midi clocks? so the freakin kp3 will keep tracking in the same time as the KPro, there is def lattency there like 1 1/2 beats?

  13. cn sm1 answer this? I am a beatboxer and i would like to put different sounds onto my beats but also im a dj and i would like to put effects on other music pieces? which 1 would be the best for these kind of stuff?

  14. DJ FX, I am in the same boat, but I figured I would go with the OSpro, and for two reasons, I have a DJM 909 for a mixer, and Pioneers effects are solid, and plenty *50 in total on this bad boy, same one crazy, q-bert, and anyone who is anyone in the battle scene rocks.

Secondly, after 15 yrs, I switched the game up 2 months ago and went with Tractor Scratch Pro and 2 X1's which have INSANE effects, sample decks, the whole biz.. what I need is a synth, and as of tonight, brand spanking new factory sealed, I got the hookup, 😉 324.99 USD (x-5star employee at GC 5 years ago.. for like 2 months 😉 I love when I get hooked like that, it's hard to say no, and it's certainly not needed, but I can use it for production too, and it will take a load off my soft synths, and logic 9, waves, sound toys, etc.

HOWEVER! I did read it doesn't translate into normal midi, it's mainly CC's, so research if you think your going to sequence with it right away. I think korg has software that helps achieve what we are lookin to do.
