  1. Since aBUGton Live 8 is my worst investment, I'm gonna see what this FL STUDIO is all about.
Has anyone used aBUGton and switch to FL STUDIO and were happy for doing so? Please let me know.

  3. Buying into FL Studio is a waste of money.
    1. Lack of 64 bit.
    2. 4 MB RAM Cap.
    3. No Mac Version.
    4. No full auto PDC.
    5. Inability to control "all" mixer options via external controller.
    6. Poor multi-controller functionality.
    7. Poor live mode.
    8. Audio editing done via 3rd party plugin.
    9. Limited and time consuming audio comping.
    10. Poor track rendering options.
    11. Skinning, color and changing visual environment is unsupported.
    12. All stock and default VSTs are average to mediocre.
    13. Stock samples and loops are sub par.
    14. Doesn't include stock basic tools, such as de-esser, maximizer or distortion units.
    15. Way overpriced after market VSTs.
    16. Developers are stubborn and it takes a long time to get things improved, fixed and changed.
    17. Company spends more time on after market VSTs and less time on FL Studio, providing only minimal updates, year after year.
    18. Rewire setup, templates and options are time consuming.
    19. FL Studio is full of workarounds and early structure and architecture that won't allow for the flexibility and control that users ask for.
    20. $199 is way over priced for what you get, check out other things first.

  4. I hardly think so. I also use Live Pro 9 that I need for my consulting work. I hate every time I pay for that.

I'd gladly pay for FL Studio updates, but they don't ask, so who am I to complain.

Again I ask you what do YOU use? If you don't have the guts to put your DAW up for criticism, why should anyone listen to your complaints?

  5. Also its a pain in the ass to use. I have tried every version and I still have no idea what I am doing. It has its own way of working and I just can never get along with it.

It just feels outdated to me. Every time its running on my system it feels like a DOS program has taken over my desktop. No thanks.

  6. 1. Use Jbridge.
    2. Do you know what you are talking about? That's just wrong. 4 Mb? Ha HA…

I was going to complete the list but this guy is a loser

  8. So what do you use? You seem to have a lot of stupid complaints about FL Studio, most wrong. Let's see what's so much better?

  10. 32 bit operating system and code equals a 4 mb limitation. unless using some sort of crutch, bridge or workaround. why bother with such hodge podge?

  11. Only reason you stick around is because it is free updates. If you thought about what you get from version to version free, would you really pay for the update? No. They are minimal and lack what real DAW version upgrades include, substance and professional tools of the time.

  16. I really miss FL Studio for how fun it makes doin drums, the really easy Piano Roll, and making awesome new sounds by tying random bits of the program to each other with Formula Controllers.

…But composing a song in it is still very rigid and nowhere as flexible as Ableton's in terms of recording a live mix and tweaking automations easily. I tried forever to find a way to make this program work for me in this sense, but I eventually just had bite the bullet and move to Ableton.
I wish they would jus redo the whole damn Pattern Playlist already to fix this.

  18. i still dont get why people debate over which daw is better than which. if something works for you, great! if not, then dont use it. not everyone produces the same genre, or in the same style or workflow, or with the same instruments/samples/recording processes: so really fighting over which daw is best is quite irrelevant. and yes there are many professionals who use fl studio.

In this case ideas. You seem to have a particular rabid anti-FL Studio stance, since all you do is bad-mouth the program and refuse to tel anyone what you use.

    That's bad faith.

I use FL Studio and can tell anyone reading this, playingcatchup is either a disgruntled warez user who couldn't download his latest crack, a hater or both.

  23. what it only took 7+ years of constant user feedback to put in a form of auto PDC. not completely done, tested and working, but there will be a semi-pdc finally. wonder how long it will take for them to add the giant list of other features, requests and options that users have been requesting for years? the developers are only interested in minimal development, because the money is in the after market vsts. fl studio may have been a leader @ one time or another in the past, but it's clearly way behind and unable to catch up at this time. that 32 bit, 4mb ram cap is going to be hard to brush under the carpet after a while. the developer needs to learn how to program in c++ or step up his game in delphi. they spend a lot of money buying 3rd party code and passing it off as theirs. such as the convolution reverb, comp, edison.. just to name a few. so if you're happy with minimal updates with features that other daws have had for years, then by all means look forward. It's just too bad that forward is baby steps, while others are light years ahead.

  24. it's quite amusing how some try to divert the topic by personal attacks or accusations. strange world we live in. some times the truth about something so precious to someone brings out something they haven't quite made out themselves yet.

  25. Do you mean bigot?

    big·ot   [big-uht]
    –noun
a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

I'm not sure you know exactly what you're talking about. Pointing out a piece of software's flaws, weaknesses and limitations really doesn't fit your description. And it's okay if you love your piece of software to the point of blind allegiance.

  27. If precision, bandwidth and latency isn't an issue to you now or in the future, then be my guest, just get by with "because it works". Let's see if you still feel that way in a few years when 32 bit is nonexistent and FL Studio is stuck with an outdated Delphi programming language. If a crutch, bridge, workaround or bandaid is good enough for you, by all means enjoy.

  29. Pointing out the flaws, limitations and workarounds embedded within FL Studio's structure and architecture is also informative. It's okay if you enjoy your sub par software, but don't leave other potential consumer with false and misleading information either. Too bad you can't resale your license, by then it's too late.

  31. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Seems a chord was struck in you while defending this program as if you were the developer himself. It's great you love this relic, more power to you. But you need to rethink your choice of words and meanings. Close enough isn't good enough for some of us. Just like FL Studio is close enough to a working professional daw. Sorry if the truth hurts, really.

  37. Buying into FL Studio is a waste of money….. Really? I have been saving money by getting free updates and I bought mine a long time ago. If you bought the first version of Ableton live or other software packages, do you get a free upgrade to the latest version. I think not for many programs.
    1. Lack of 64 bit…. Do you know what the future holds? How many vst's or DXI's currently support 64, some older soundcards have no 64 drivers, all will take time.
    2. 4 MB RAM Cap. limitation of the OS FL runs on.
    3. No Mac Version. So, it was made to run on pc, Macs can run windows. "FL Studio 9 has been noted to work in Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard using WineBottler, a fork of Darwine,[1] and in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, using the normal Wine, with ASIO support.[2]"
    4. No full auto PDC. Again, may take time but still a great product to make music.
    5. Inability to control "all" mixer options via external controller…. Works well enough for me
    6. Poor multi-controller functionality… still works well enough for me.
    7. Poor live mode… I don't use it live.
    8. Audio editing done via 3rd party plugin…. So, it works quite well and I get free upgrades.
    9. Limited and time consuming audio comping… I haven't been limited and time consuming compared to what?
    10. Poor track rendering options… But it still works, and quite well for me.
    11. Skinning, color and changing visual environment is unsupported…. I can move or eliminate windows I don't need or use rarely. I really don't care about skinz.
    12. All stock and default VSTs are average to mediocre.
    13. Stock samples and loops are sub par…. That is your opinion but not mine.
    14. Doesn't include stock basic tools, such as de-esser, maximizer or distortion units…. compared to other software packages, the money I save, I can purchase these if I need them.
    15. Way overpriced after market VSTs…. Then by other aftermarket VST's from other vendors with the money you save.
    16. Developers are stubborn and it takes a long time to get things improved, fixed and changed….you could say this about Microsoft or any company, but FL at least offers upgrades and fixes, all for free. I like free.
    17. Company spends more time on after market VSTs and less time on FL Studio, providing only minimal updates, year after year. FL and Ableton Live both started in 2001, Live is version 8, FL is 9 and I am quite content with the upgrades, and they are free unlike trying to upgrade from Live from say version4 to version 8 which is a cost.
    18. Rewire setup, templates and options are time consuming…. Rewire works, and well for me.
    19. FL Studio is full of workarounds and early structure and architecture that won't allow for the flexibility and control that users ask for….. Again, it works very well for me.
    20. $199 is way over priced for what you get, check out other things first. Like what, Ableton live 8 for 699 usd? FL offers a lot for 200 bucks including free upgrades which I have been taking advantage of for years.

Does FL have limitations? Sure all software does but they do a good job upgrading and upgrading, for free at a cost of only 199usd. I purchased mine for less back in the old days. I like the way it works, it is logical. Does FL spend as much money or development as Ableton? No but it only costs $199 compared to $699. I have seen cheaper programs like mixcraft5 for $75 but it too is limited and no free upgrades. People have to make decisions how they want to spend their money and what they get. FL studio gives you a great product for a reasonable price, good vsts, samples, and good quality sound. It is easy to use and gives you free upgrades where others charge you money. It is a good value and many people are happy with the product and make great music with it.

  38. Anyway: if in a week this poll hasn't even reached 100 answers, plz conclude that you're alone to care about a little shortcut & stop bothering me. I don't see a crowd debating about this, I see the same 5 people shouting about it constantly.

Btw, 10 out of 40 even bothered to reply that they don't care.

anything is an option, as long as
-you show me by a poll that a thousand people want it your way
-YOU debate for weeks with those 5 other guys who don't like the change when it's released

I shouldn't have to argue myself whether F11/F12 are used, you should prove me that no one is using them, then yes, it becomes an option.

not really: if I'm wrong & more than 5 guys do care about this, then you could hunt for all of them in previous threads, & PM them to vote

  39. Maybe you should be like every other professional DAW out there and allow the keys to be mapped anyway the user wants them. It's the way things are done in this day an age. It's really hard to keep bolting on pieces to a 12 year old relic. Everyone knows it's time for a total rewrite of FL Studio, but it's Image-line that's dragging their feet. And it's the consumers fault for even asking, wanting or suggesting. It's only a matter of time when the user base finally sees the dead end they've got free updates to. Move on, there's nothing to see here.

  40. If nobody really gives a crap, then we'll then be stuck with those damned shortcuts for life! If you're working with a synth and press F5 to bring up the playlist, BAM, your hard work is gone, replaced by another preset, which is WAY WORSE than replacing a sample by accident.

I once was working on this amazing synth patch, and I accidentally pressed F5 or F6 when the browser was open to the Plugin Database, and BAM! The whole plugin was replaced! I screamed a whole string of not nice things, because I worked on the patch for at least an hour! That's man hours down the tube. If I were getting paid by the hour, I'd have to not charge money for that hour.

Needless to say, that was the last time I ever bothered having the browser open at all. If I need something, I'll probably just drag and drop from the folder itself.

  46. no one ever accused you as being original. kind of like FL Studio presently. seems you are still carrying a 12 year old ego, with only months left on your lease. good luck to you and IL in the future, we all know you need it.

  47. that's the best you can do? deny everything stated because names are nothing more then a way to hide your true identity to begin with? how ironic isn't it mr. IL that you would point out such a thing. I'm sorry, I mean Ervins.

  49. Okay, so that there is no further confusion over my user name, I have signed up for an account so that people know who I am. The one who imitated me is an internet troll by the name of Ex3 who has been banned from the Imageline user forums for over a year (or more) and has an obsession over everything Imageline, often arguing with Gol and JMC on other websites like youtube, and impersonating Gol and JMC here. I'm just so surprised he chose to imitate me out of all users there, and that he even bothered to paraphrase me. In fact, I should be so flattered he bothered spending all that time and effort.

You can tell who Ex3 is because he useshttp://www.fl-studio.com as his website in all his posts here, no matter what monicker he chooses to post with as a guest.

@Ex3, man, I'm sorry if I got angry there above, but you seriously need to get a life and stop trying to imitate others' lives. It's really not healthy at all. At least put a bit of variety in your website selection so that you don't appear as such a joke. Cheers.

While I'm not particularly fond of the new F5/F6 shortcuts, I am excited about many other things like Assisted PDC, opening plugins in a very intuitive way, Edison saving to Mp3 (saves me a couple extra steps, really), Drumpad, customisable key mapping, and the best of all, Fruity Convolver!!! O_O I've been waiting for a good convolution reverb plugin to come my way, and now Gol made one. In fact, if it wasn't for Gol, we wouldn't have many of these nice new things. If you're reading this, thank you Gol.

  57. Wow, this really sucks… if only ppl like that could go away.
@Ex3: Cut the crap… we know its you. Even if it isn't you, it's still you. Please stop harassing IL employees, customers, and users with your identity crisis.

  59. That's more like it, see prozac does work. Too bad it's all way over due. Reaper is leaps and bounds past FL Studio. You'd be crazy to buy into that pathetic toy. Reaper + audiomidi no brainers = duh.

  61. To the trolls who keep posting the "waste of money" lists, while a couple of your points taken by themselves might be helpful, if that's what you were interested in being, so many of them are simply spurious as to render your "helpful" trolling useless.

    1. The first thing I would take exception to is your "minimal updates" assertion, particularly since all those updates are free for life. I could post what the guys at IL have added in updates in the last 4 years, but it would take too many pages. I suggest anyone who makes that claim look at the update history here:
    http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/history….

    2. I don't have a Mac, so I don't care

    3. Skinning my DAW is definitely my top priority in music production, so you've got me there. . . .

    4. Many of your complaints about track rendering, comping, and other production issues sound like look and feel problems – i.e., you like what you like, but I might not like what you like. Since FL has fully functional demos (except reloading saved projects), anyone concerned about that can try it before they buy.

    5. Most of the FL VSTs are not "average to mediocre." The newer ones particularly are top notch, and overall, they are very comparable with what ships with most other DAWS that cost a couple of hundred dollars more (and yes I have couple of those). And we are getting a new convolution reverb based on Reverberate in the "minimal" update this week – which, as always, is free. As an aside re: plugins, I would point out that the FL version you are pricing also contains a fully functional internal version of Synthmaker too (no vst export). Again, try the demo.

    6. Since I'm not buying the "way overpriced aftermarket VST's" how does that effect how good the DAW is, exactly? That's like saying Cubase sucks because Halion costs too much.

    7. Your "flexibility and control" complaint is so nonspecific that I think a better argument might be that FL simply does not accommodate thnoodles.

    8. If the "third party" audio editor (Edison) is spectacularly good, and included, who cares who developed it?

    9. Clearly the developers were stubborn with you and your inanity – good for them.

So, in closing . . . . stick it in your ear.

  65. that's the pathetic mentality of the owner, operator and decision maker at image-line? pretty scary… posting customer's information on public forums. and hinting towards bodily harm, wow.
who ever this ex3 guy is has a very good reason to trash talk this company. seems it starts from the top and trickles down.

  66. do your research. the limitations, instability, workarounds and "it's okay for now" will become more and more evident as time goes on. do your research, your facts are off and misleading. you should work for IL, perhaps in the mail room.

  78. look i been usin flstudio since 98 or 99 it jus keeps getting better i jus seen the 9.1 tutorial and i cant wait to get it

  79. FL studio 32 bit works fine with 64bit os, and I never go over like 8% cpu, have never come close to 4 gigs of ram even with 100 vsts in a track.. What would be the point of wasting time programming a 64bit fl studio. Id rather them put useful features in instead of something completely pointless
