How To Get Your Video Featured On Synthtopia

misterite asked a question in the synth forum that merits a post:

I’m new to Synthtopia and was wondering how one goes about getting their video posted on the front page?

any suggestions would be great.

Good question.

We post a lot of synth and electronic videos, but we also try to value your time, filtering out the latest Casio cover of Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygène.

So here’s our reply to misterite:

The videos that make it to the front page of the site are carefully chosen for their overall level of awesomeness.

So – make an awesome video and share the video URL with us via the feedback link. If we think it’s as awesome as you do, it will probably show up.

Some things we consider awesome: videos that will help Synthtopia readers learn how to do something new: an electronic music performance that will wow them; demos of new electronic music tools; unique electronic music videos; and the occasional WTF video.

The video at top of Rick and Adam Wakeman playing Tudorock, from The Six Wives of Henry VIII, pretty much covers all the bases. It shows you how to raise your kid right, it’s an impressive display of keyboard pyrotechnics and there’s the whole WTF prog cape thing.

Here’s another great example:

In the video, Rupert Brown explains gate sidechaining, without boring you to the point that you want to stick pencils into your eardrums rhythmically. That’s amazing.

And what’s not to like here?

Little Boots demonstrates how to combine vintage and cutting edge gear live; she delivers an interesting, musical performance; and she’s keeping the world safe for synth nerd chicks.
