  1. Anyway, if all these people hate the iPad reporting so much and love the other articles, how come they are not leaving comments on the other articles? Sounds like a whole lot of whining. Just skip the bloody iPad articles if they upset your tender sensibilities.

FWIW, out of the past 30 articles on Synthtopia, 8 have been about various software on the iPad. This software ranges from wireless controllers, DJ performance rigs, Matrix sequencers and synthesis. It’s NOT about the damn platform, it’s about the stuff you can do with it.

In comparison, when Max for Live was being released there were also numerous articles about that on Synthtopia. Additionally, out of the past 30 articles the were at least 5 that related to Modular synths (boy THAT really pisses me off! [sarcasm]).

So…the iPad is a new platform, it has a lot of new software being released for it and it’s relatively low cost has a lot of implications for use as a controller. What’s there to get bent about? Yeah some of the stuff is pretty toy-like (so is circuit bending – literally) and there are limitations to such things as sync’ing and quality audio output…but music has always been bounded by limitations (I wish I could play up to the 35th fret on my classical guitar – but there isn’t one).

How about commenting with something relevant…not fan-boy/girl stuff, but also not whining.

  2. i dint want an ipad at all, until i saw some of the vids here, and ever since 1957 when max mathews set it off, computer music has been heading in this direction, and it's going to keep going, exponentially…

  4. uh, I only come here because I got an iPad and I want to check all the music apps for it. this is the best spot I've found.

    thanks Synthtopia!

  7. Synthtopia people, carry on reviewing cool stuff. Don’t worry about the “fanboys” who only support stuff from brands they consider acceptable, for fashion’s sake or for whatever reason they have. It is currently fashionable for some people to be anti-apple, so you are getting a lot of vocal complaints about coverage of apple products. I hope you ignore them and carry right along!

For the anti-apple “brandies”, chill out guys, brand name is less important than making music and art.
