Rule The Stage With Your Black Sparkle Strap-On Synth!

Roland has announced that the Lucina AX-09 “Black Sparkle” strap-on synthesizer is now available and they’ve released this official video to promote it.

What makes the Lucina “Black Sparkle” unique?

To quote Roland, “It’s black and slick, but also glittering and gorgeous.”

Are you ready to get liberated so you can dominate the stage?

  1. This video packs so much horror in 90 seconds it's hard to even put into words.

However, if you have a Baltimora tribute band, this might be just the thing, I guess…

  2. you nailed it jose. this is tragic. marketing budgets aren't what they used to be. that chick singing acts like she's never seen a microphone. TRAGIC FAIL.

  3. heeelllpppp mmmeeeee..I'm drowning in CHHHEEEEZZZZINEEEESSSS !

Seriously…COME ON !!! this is what it's come to ? surely their target
consumers are bubblegum chewing 11 year olds with mommy and daddy
    credit cards at their disposal.

  4. Someone needs to do a Japanese dub for this asap.

    "New from Roland!"

  5. I agree, this makes the synth look and sound like crap. Hate to say this, but why didn't they hire someone like Rudess to show this thing rockin'?

  6. That almost created a wormhole in space back to the early 90's.

Once again, Roland marketing is unable to produce any promo videos relevant to this day and age or have an edginess to it sharper than, say, a rubber ball. If Roland has its heart set on producing Barbie's Dream Shoulder Synth, then they might as well go balls out and be entertaining – or – go for the mass demographic for this product and hire Justin Bieber (or whatever that kid's name is).

  7. Just watched it again (because I'm a masochist) – Did the ditzy "singer" just hit herself in the face with the mic??? Hey Roland – how about hiring actual MUSICIANS to perform an actual song on stage with your instruments instead of this jazzy-pop overdub crap that has nothing to do with the "performance" on stage?

  8. They lost me at "Black Sparkle". If it's something you would name a unicorn, it's not a good name for a synth. I prefer more traditional names, with pointless and hard to memorize random letters and numbers.

  9. Actually, I don't think it looks that bad. Imho, it looks way better than the Ax-Synth (now THAT'S an eyesore). But this video doesn't warm me to the idea of parting with 700 of my hard-earned bucks to get it. That amount of money can get you a lot of synth nowadays (Micro X, Microkorg, Tetra, Plugiator, Gaia, Micron, Juno DI, the list goes on), and soundwise this just doesn't seem to cut it. Can you even edit patches on it?
