  1. Hi BGUDNA,

I'm using standard Live 8 features to communication with the Launchad. No additional middleware such as Max for Live is being used. I'm using additional MIDI tracks to route MIDI back out to the Launchpad to get visual feedback on sequences and to give me feedback on the notes I'm playing.

I'm in User Mode 1 the whole time and controlling all elements via MIDI notes. The entire song is performed in Session mode and all elements are either being played or generated live using multiple VSTs on the fly (no audio clips). Lots of Live effects plus SugarBytes Artillery II.

Like with all songs on this album, I composed and arranged the song around the controller as opposed to composing the song then trying to figure out how to play it live.

  5. Mark – thanks for the extra info.

Interesting comments about composing to the controller – the "vocal" parts are especially interesting.

  6. Yeah, it's worked out really well for live performance in that I can feature a controller or two for each song which keeps things interesting for the audience.

    1) "Arrival" is played all on keys Remote SL 25
    2) "First Orbit" is mostly Percussa AudioCubes + Launchpad for melody
    3) "Control Zone" is Theremin + 1 AudioCube giving me 6 dimensions of spatial control
    4) "I Can See Them" is all AudioCubes
    5) "When Connected" is all Tenori-On (sequencing and live play) running VSTs in racks in Live
    6) "Celebration and Voices" Launchpad
    7) "Dark Signals" Remote SL 25 + Theremin + Tenori-On
    8) "Resolute" I finish off on all keys again
