Free Music Software: Togu Audio Line has released NoiseMaker v2, an updated version of its free virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac:
TAL-NoiseMaker is an improved version of TAL-Elek7ro and has a completely new synth engine and a lot of improvements in sound and usability. The synth also includes a small effect section with a reverb, chorus and a simple bit crusher effect.
A display shows the knob and slider values. This allows more control over the synth. A ring modulator and a syncable triangle are also part of this synth. TAL-NoiseMaker includes new filter types as the self resonating 6dB low pass and a notch filter. Its improved amplitude ADSR is very suitable for slow pads as for really fast envelopes. 128 factory presets included.

For me this is a no brainer. hehe, at first I thought "fun, another freebie vst. NEXT!" until I noticed "TAL" 🙂
I don't focus too much on vst's myself, but TAL is the only group of which I tend to keep the whole collection. IMO its all quality stuff and you'll manage to squeeze some pretty interesting material out of their stuff.
I'm a user of the Elek7ro-II and though I don't use it often I sometimes find good uses for its sounds. Merely a glimpse again but from what I heard from a few presets this is interesting indeed.
HOWEVER… I wouldn't throw away your ele7ro-II just yet if I were you. While some presets overlap (a bit) like "BS Startup" vs "!Startup Juno Osc" you'll still notice much difference. In some cases I like the "cleaner" sound of 'noise' while in other cases I think Ele7ro is more raw and direct.
SO my suggestion: if you're a TAL user like myself just add it to the flock for now.
IMO this is good stuff,
I'm going to be teaching some synth basics to some school kids, and don't have access to any hardware analog rigs. I'm probably going to use this so I can have all of the kids working "hands on". I do like that the interface is clear enough to be used for educational purposes. The sounds are really good. I just donated 15 beans to TAL (kunz)
