Gorillaz New Album, The Fall, Recorded On iPad

Gorillaz The FallGorillaz have released their iPad album, The Fall, as a free download for members of their fan club.

Gorillaz used a variety of iPad music software to recorde The Fall:

  • Speak It!
  • SoundyThingie
  • Mugician
  • Solo Synth
  • Synth
  • Funk Box
  • Gliss
  • AmpliTube
  • Xenon
  • iElectribe
  • BS-16i
  • M3000 HD
  • Cleartune
  • iOrgel HD
  • Olsynth
  • StudioMiniXI
  • BassLine
  • Harmonizer
  • Dub Siren Pro
  • Moog Filtatron

The Fall is available as a free download to members of Gorillaz’ fan club. You can also sign up to listen to it for free at their site. A physical release is planned for early 2011.

Gorillaz have called The Fall the first iPad album, but it looks like the claim for First iPad Album goes to Mark Jenkins and his The iPad Album. Regardless of this, though, The Fall is going to raise awareness of iPad music software and the platform’s capabilities.

  1. I'd like to hear their production story. On their site they list the apps they used. Only one of them records audio, StudioMiniXI. (Amplitube does, too, but isn't multitrack and I don't know if it'll accept mic signals.) Lots of the other apps I think aren't capable of saving to an audio file (I await correction if I'm wrong). So it sounds like the iPad was mostly used as an instrument mixing and a large portion of recording done outboard. So let's hear it…

  7. I am wondering why when I first load this page it says "Comments (7)" and yet I only see 2. I seems that whenever I load a page it first displays a much larger amount of comments then changes to reflect a smaller amount. Sorry for changing the subject, but I did not know where else to share this observation.

Yes, it would be nice to know exactly how the put this together.

  8. Have you heard G-Sides or D-Sides? I think this is well in keeping with those albums: rough, whimsical, and fun. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the PB-Sides.
