Trevor Horn, Yes Announce New Album, Fly From Here

YesSuperproducer Trevor HornYes have announced a new album, Fly From Here, set to be released in July.

The current version of the band is minus Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.

While Fly From Here will apparently be cape-free, it will include a 20+ minute epic prog excursion.

Horn and bassist Chris Squire re-discovered the track Fly From Here, which has never been recorded as a studio track.

“Chris and I were talking one evening about a song ‘Fly From Here’ that we never recorded,” explains Horn.

“I said I was prepared to spend two weeks with ‘YES’ recording that song. When I arrived in America to record it, I was taken prisoner by the band and only allowed my freedom again in return for producing the whole album. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse!!!”

Current Lineup:

  • Benoît David – lead vocals
  • Chris Squire – bass guitar, vocals
  • Steve Howe – guitars, vocals
  • Alan White – drums
  • Geoff Downes – keyboards
  • Trevor Horn – producer, co-writer, vocals

  1. Everyone but the singer has been on at least one previous album, and Squire, Howe and White have been on several. Rick is only the most famous of their keyboardists. Yes has always been changing members. Nothing new here–just hope the music is good.

  2. I like Trevor Horn as a singer. But…. Jon Anderson is obviously the voice of Yes!

And where's Rick Wakeman anyway? Downes + Howe give me nasty Asia flashbacks.

But… Downes + Horn, that has potential… bring on the Buggles reunion!

  3. Hmmm…. without Anderson… it's all going to ride on that vocalist. Or his lack of participation. Nothing kills good music faster than average/weak vocals over top. But it's Yes, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

  4. Trevor Horne's production, and the fact that there's a 20-minute song, gives me SOME hope that this new album might be worth listening to. Rick has come and gone many times, but I'm still kind of pissed at how the band has treated Jon Anderson lately.

The Drama album (and lineup) got a lot of flak at the time, but that album's held up pretty well. Perhaps Trevor's voice isn't what it used to be, and that's why they still need Benoît David. They could have asked Jon back to sing on at least ONE new song; that would have gone a long way towards mending fences… and would guarantee higher album sales as well!

As a long-time Yes fan, I'll probably buy the CD regardless.

  5. Have listened it for two days, no stop. In my opinion it’s a great album. Of course I miss Anderson. Whith him, it could be a masterpiece…. But it’s OK, anyway.

  6. Saw Yes at Jones Beach,July 2011. Terrible!!! Benoit David’s voice was cracking,Downes was thrown into the mix cause Oliver Wakeman didn’t or couldn’t tour with them.It was like they were going through the motions. Been going to YES shows since 1972/Fragile tour, and they were always great, seen them when DRAMA came out,and was still impressed with the quality of their show.Even was impressed when David first toured w/them when Anderson couldn’t.They were ALWAYS GREAT. Maybe that nite was a bad one for them.My son,who is 29,and has been going to shows since he was 5,was thoroughly disappointed at 2011 show. BUT,I still have faith, and bought tickets to see them at Westbury ,July 14th,hoping they put on a good show. Also, 1st time seeing PROCOL HAREM. Can’t wait.
